Hi there,

I just stumbled upon this forum while googling whether Thom Yorke, the singer from Radiohead, is an Aspie. I ended up reading a post here. I love forums, but it's sad they're slowly fading away. Reddit is terrible.

Anyway, I was officially diagnosed in June, the day before my birthday. What a relief! I spent my whole life beating myself up and trying to change myself. I'm glad to know there are others out there who can relate.

Welcome to Wrong Planet. I like the traditional forum format too, and this site is one of the best I’ve encountered.

Welcome to Wrong Planet.

I looked through a couple of your other messages.

You wrote about stemming, "I've had the same stim since I was 2 years old lol... hair twirling and any form of fidgeting with my hair. I had hair pulling for awhile, but I stopped that a long time ago. It happened at puberty and lasted a couple years. I still go to do it when stressed, but i stop myself and twirl my hair instead."

When I think back into my early years. I had one trait. I was a thumb sucker.

So as a young child, I sucked my thumb. But before I got to the age of going to school, my mom decided I had to give up this habit. So I did. I substituted one habit for another for another for another, until I finally reached the point where all these habits dissolved away into nothingness.

So maybe these stimming habits may be a human trait.

Thanks everyone :)

That's interesting, Jimmy m. I think that is true, most people have some kind of stim. I can see how some of our stims could be replaced by another one through the years.

softlyspeaks41, it did feel like a gift! Thanks!
