Black and white thinking and "doubt-mongering"

I have sometimes black-and-white statements but I think really
it is just a reflection of a laziness about verbalizing a much more nuanced
subconscious process.

A lot of people like to poke holes in my statements, which
can be a form of doubt-creation and manipulation.
I don't think these people are open-minded enough to see
my point of view.

I don't know if it's laziness, I think sometimes it can be hard to translate our thought process into words that other people can fully grasp. I also think it's common for people to latch onto some small thing that we said while trying to explain ourselves and then not letting go, so that that becomes their idea of what we said even though it's wrong.

Binary thinking is common for small children and mentally ret*d adults. When communicating with these, there is no need to try to present anything "nuanced". This is not so much laziness, but practicality.

Laziness is not the only reason for binary thinking from those more capable. It can also be seen with the self-righteous.

Those capable of nuanced discussion with more of an enthusiasm for the subject than the coercion of others are pretty rare.

That's true, it can also be self-righteousness or a measure of coercion.
I think of managers that sort of say things like "I don't have time to discuss this" and other
variants of "accept this because I said so..."

In my case I specifically mean laziness about verbalizing, not laziness per-se.
I find that I often think for a long time about things to come to a conclusion,
so long that I don't remember the beginning of the process and it takes a while to cite
all the sources and so forth. I imagine many people sort of operate like this.
