Been playing with this for the last year. It's great. See people out to 700 yards in pitch blackness, the size of an ice cube and doesn't even need batteries

Nades, what did you use to get your image?

An Infiray T2 Pro. It's a 284 x 192 pixel thermal but what beats the other phone thermals hands down is its 2X optical zoom. Instead of having those 50000 pixels spread out over a 20+ degree field of view like almost all other phone thermals, the zoom narrows those pixels down into a 13 (ish) degree field of view so it rivals a lot of dedicated thermal monoculars that cost over 1k.

It's not quite going to get the range of a monocular, but it's not far behind for a fraction of the cost. I've spotted people from 700 meters away with it which is about as far as the human eye anyway.

This is a good video of the thermal being used outdoors. It gives an idea of its range.

Ooh, dead good! And tiny.
Do you hunt, or is it just for the interest? (one reason why it's now on my Amazon wish list!)

For the interest. For 350/400 pounds, it beats a mid level phone and is an amazing toy with actual uses.

Only problem is that it's fussy with android it seems. The software is outstanding.....so long as it actually works on the phone. The post image processing is incredible and more than holds its own even among £2000 monoculars. You can even see where people have touched door handles/paw prints long after the warm whatever it was stopped touching it.

Yep, that's just why I'd get one.

Shame about the issues with Android though - that system has been available for years now; it's no longer rocket science to properly develop apps for it.

It's fussy. On my Motorola it refused to boot up at all but on my current Samsung it has no problem.

No idea why it doesn't like some phones, I imagine it'll be more reliable on iPhones though but it's worth getting a cheap android phone just to run the thermal anyway given it'll still be a fraction of the cost of a typical monocular.

The thermal is my mandatory night time carry now. It's so small and can see so far in darkness there isn't a reason not to carry it. You'll see all sorts of horrors with it. I'll see if i can find more pics.

Thermal and PVS-14 together looking at same areas. To dark to see anything with naked eye.

Thermals picked up a small nesting bird about 50 meters away while the PVS-14 can't see it at all.
