^^ Anything to do with health may be 100% placebo, and most derive some of their benefit from that effect.

I should clarify that Rolls-Royce and Apple both began as technical+sales partnerships, but then lost their technical advantage. Rolls-Royce went bankrupt for neglecting the low toughness of carbon fiber turbine blades in development, and had to drag a lot of talent out of retirement to recover. Apple sells overpriced, low-quality products now, turning record profits.

Yes the placebo effect might be helpful in some cases, and if it can compete against the risks of medication then that would be another benefit. Just sad that individuals manage to get so much money off people by selling at an inflated price. Placebos are usually extremely cheap to produce.

Sadly I'm not good at emotional tricks, so I just try to live in hope that the real world isn't quite such a gender-binary place and that the situation isn't quite that black-and-white.

I wish the popular descriptions of the binary gender roles had more to say about being male than macho. It is a very long time since I've heard about honour, generosity, or self-sacrifice except from a few edgy comedians.

To Read between the lines in order to "separate the wheat from the chafe" or "the signal from the noise."

When phoned about a strange readout in house wiring, I responded : its an inductance voltage; you have an open circuit! Again, Ive no idea where that came from, though 2/pi suggests itself...

I feel like that's been their business model all along.

More recently, having been gulled like most, I did a more detailed analasis of share buy backs, and found that they do most shareholders no good whatsoever! The beneficieries are executives who use them as an excuse to award themselves bonuses, and those financial institutions who buy on the announcement and sell on the splke. The notion that they #return capital to sharehoolders# is a complete fiction!

I am very bad at problem solving. Most problems make me feel panicked and helpless. I am not handy at all and bad at repairing things. I am somewhat better at life problems.

I used to love repairing CRT televisions with or without a circuit diagram.
There's just something about the smell of ozone from the plate line and baked rosin.
It was usually bad joint/burnt resistor or a dried out cap, but sometimes more interesting faults.

I doubt I'd have the patience now.

Problem solving is my greatest strength. I've always been good with my hands and can fix all sort of things. The only person better than me in my family was my dad. He was extremely creative in making and repair things. He made nearly all our furniture and made our first TV. That's something I could never do, but I beat him with solving problems involving social aspects. Say issues involving talking to people, making phone calls, arranging meetings, filing complaints, resolving conflicts, negotiating deals...etc. I don't love those, but I'm not afraid of doing them. I've taken classes in school on interpersonal skills and that was very helpful.

I think the most important part of problem solving is not to get emotional when facing a problem. Stay detached and rational. If you panic then it's hard to make good decisions.

I'd say that I'm a good problem solver. I went back to Work BC after my position at the TD bank was dissolved.

Bad news, people; I used to enjoy Sudoku at level 14/15, but of late I've failed to complete too many of them, and have geared down to level 12/13, and still get beaten occasionally. It'll come to you all!
