Why is it too hard for the USA to ban domestic terrorism?
The Proud Boys are issuing terrorist threats this week about their hideous plans for armed insurrection if Trump loses the election.
I am genuinely curious as to why the USA can't/won't/hasn't declared them a terrorist organisation. Is it that their spread is so wide - chapters in 48 states - that it is thought enforcing a ban would be unmanagable?
Two countries have banned them - Canada and NZ. NZ banned them from even attempting to form chapters here, in 2022; it is a crime to support them in any way, should they try to establish themselves in the country. This has been effective in keeping them from operating in NZ, though as NZ is a small country, this has not been difficult. Has Canada made any progress in managing TPB infestation there?
