Hey!

I'm currently writing my thesis on barriers faced by neurodivergent individuals at job fairs. As part of my research, I will attend two job fairs to observe and identify obstacles, which I will analyze and document in my thesis, supported by existing literature. It would be incredibly helpful if you could share your personal experiences with me. Have you attended job fairs as a neurodivergent individual? What was that experience like for you? Where did you encounter difficulties? In your opinion, what are the specific barriers at these events?

I hope to use some of your insights to inform my work, with the ultimate goal of advocating for improvements to make job fairs more accessible to neurodivergent people in the future. Thank you so much for your help!

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me!

Haven’t been to one to my recollection. But I’d probably chose to opt out of attending, anyway, because I figure those are actually social events and the hiring process would be based on who has the most likable, outgoing, or otherwise impressive personality. And I don’t have confidence in my abilities in that realm.

In no particular order:

• Crowds.  Too many people crowded together.

• Noises.  And at least half of those people are talking all at once.

• Smells.  And some of them should use less cologne/perfume and more scentless deodorant.

• Lack of Direction.  Where do I go?  What do I do?  How do I fill this out?  What does this question mean?

• Tactile Sensations.  STOP TOUCHING ME!!
