Its strange how identity politics and tribalism take over in things like this, not just autism but all things, sex, race, sexuality etc...

The person could be a complete scum bag but as soon as the magic word associated with the tribe or group comes up they have to be innocent, as people jump to assumptions some sort of discrimination is involved.

The cops deal with mental health & ID everyday, there`s serious work involved in building a case for prosecution lawyers to work with, with strong evidence required.

The idea the man`s autism & lack of emotion was enough on its own to convict him is laughable.

The death penalty shouldn't exist. Period.

That said, even if we consider autism and other issues as mitigating factors, that doesn't mean he should walk free.

In cases like this the primary difference in sentencing should be between sending him to a prison described as a hospital vs. sending him to a prison described as a prison.

If he is executed, then nobody will be able to release him from prison so he can torture some other helpless baby.

I have no problem with the death penalty for certain cases and this is certainly one of them.
