Luck of the draw. Just because there's compatible people out there doesn't mean you'll meet them, and even if you do sometimes one doesn't navigate their initial interactions properly. If someone doesn't interact with enough people they might miss the chance to meet that person.
There's a bunch of factors that can reduce your chances of meeting and hitting it off with someone compatible, but, that doesn't mean there weren't potential partners out there.
