I had the day off and decided to get back into ritual, which I have neglected for months. I have been a sloth as usual, but today is reformation day.
My altar was sadly neglected with heaps of dust from disuse. I got one of those Swiffer cleaning cloths and cleaned it up, including the floor around it. I was going to light the candle, but it had already burned down to a nub, so I didn't bother.
The Sun streamed in through the windows, not quite brilliant like mid-day but enough to see by.
I began by signing the Cross before the altar, then performed the "Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram," and it was like scrubbing off layers of dirt in the shower. This is a simple little ritual that can be found on the Internet. Whatever ails ye, the Pentagram can make better, if you ask me. It is about the only thing I ever do in magic. You can find all kinds of people of every different persuasion practicing it on Youtube videos, if you are curious.
I follow up with a prayer that I took from Donald Michael Kraig's "Modern Magic," 3rd. Ed.
"Holy art Thou, Lord of the Universe,
Holy art Thou, Whom Nature hath not formed!
Holy art Thou, the vast and mighty One,
Lord of the Light and of the Darkness!"
Then I write the Name from right to left in the air, Hebrew for Yod-Heh-Vav-Heh. Close my eyes. Sometimes I speak aloud whatever may concern me, whatever I wish to discuss. Most other times like this morning, I have nothing I wish to express in words.
I turn back to face the altar and follow up with the "Middle Pillar Ritual" to feel balance. Then I turn around clockwise and inhale the circle of protection to reabsorb its energy. Waste not, want not.
This takes 15 minutes and provides me peace and joy that can be so scarce in this world sometimes.
Maybe this can give someone an idea. At least, it has helped me.
