I wonder what hair brained scheme they have to lower these numbers and how it managed to get this out if hand is the first place.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cjdlmprepl5tUK seems very attractive to foreigners like me with their health care, dole and civil protections. I would not mind retiring there, but UK does not allow people like me from America to retire in the UK. Only people without money, from third world nations are allowed to come over as refugees. I don't know how many people UK took in from Syria, Iraq, and all kinds of other places. I don't blame them, I would go to UK too and get the free health care and dental care.
On the national level, UK military has atrophied, and UK is looking like a juicy target. I think they have about three nuclear subs that patrol the globe and are shadowed by Russian subs, that is pretty much it for nuclear deterrent. UK of 2024 is not like UK of 1940, could not withstand or hold out like the Great Britain under Churchill, it would fold like a house of cards in no time at all. That is the way things go with nations, they come and go throughout history. So it was with Rome, too. Maybe UK will have to pay tribute to Russia, and health care will be discontinued.
The trouble with the immigrants is not their race, it is that they are not invested in the culture or the country and could care less. Are they going to fight and die for UK? Or just leave and go to another country if things get tough, just like they left their home country? They are economic immigrants and just want an easier life, they don't want to deal with any static. I don't know how many assimilate or feel very invested in UK culture, you would have to answer that question for me if you live there.
I think immigrants should be given citizenship if they serve in the military overseas in combat situations for 10 years, or in the civilian profession of doctor or nurse, that sounds like a fair deal to me. There always seems a shortage of doctors and nurses, and those are tough jobs. Any profession in high demand and short supply, those should be pathways to citizenship for foreigners. Especially young people ages 18 - 25.
If you get young people from overseas, that is like stealing from other countries. You get a fully developed human being that can be productive, yet you did not have to pay for the unproductive childhood. It is a good deal.
