I'm a relatively privileged person and the people I know personally in my life are mostly decent and kind, so I don't have a lot of reason to feel that I am being treated unjustly, but I get upset on behalf of vulnerable people when they are treated unjustly or unkindly and without compassion or understanding. For instance Trump's election is probably not going to have a big effect on me personally, but I despair for all the people that are going to be harmed by it, so much so that I have somewhat shut off and am intentionally not paying attention to it, to save my own sanity. If my health was better I might take part in activism to try to fight it but I don't have it in me, though I have done so in the past.

Do you sometimes get more worked up when other people are being harmed than if you are being insulted or slighted?

Yes to both questions. It’s very hard living in this world knowing the injustices and harm people experience. Now that my son is getting older, I am thinking about getting involved in activism in some capacity.

Upset on behalf on someone else (victim)? No.

Upset towards someone else (perpetrator) and whatever freak of a situation that happened? Yes.

Closest thing I'd be pissed about people's shortcomings is their helplessness and lack of choices, not unfairness or injustices upon them.

I'd rather find ways to empower them to do stuff themselves, uplift them up to make more choices, not make them safe and be more dependent.

But my disdain for those who commit injustices themselves overpowers everything else. And worst part is that sometimes I envy these people -- who never have to sympathize.

I don't pity people on the short end of the hypocritical stick -- I deem as such disrespectful.

I only envy people who's on the favorable side of the hypocritical stick.
And so far, rarely ever anyone admits it.

As for situations that cannot get out of; that's what pissed me about living in general.

That everything can happen.
It doesn't drive me to be more grateful and not take things for granted.
Nope, I'd rather live a life where I actually can and will and allowed to take a lot of things for granted.
