How much do you drink?

What impacts does drinking it have on you?

I am 41 and considering starting coffee. Been exhausted lately. Besides 41 is old enough for unhealthful habits

I try not to drink any. But coffee frequently drags me back into caffeine's grip.

In my experience, stimulants like caffeine only give you an energy boost in the short term. Then your body gets used to it and you need the caffeine just to get to 'normal'. Then you try having more caffeine and that works for a bit until that becomes 'normal' and so on. But at the same time you feel more and more stretched thinly out.

Plus caffeine makes me feel depressed. You don't sound like you need any more depressants in your life.

Generally I feel better when I don't have any caffeine.

I enjoy one or two cups of tea during the morning or early afternoon, if a need a little pick me up. I also enjoy coffee but I find the acidity upsets my stomach. I would suggest if you are new to consuming caffeine, start by drinking black tea. Black tea has just as much caffeine as coffee but it is absorbed slower into body, and is less likely to give you the jitters or cause anxiety.

When I am so exhausted from lack of sleep, I turn to caffeine and always regret it. But I really do need SOMETHING to give me enough energy to simply function during morning activities.
I switched to yerba mate tea which does not have that awful acidic punch that coffee does. And yet, I still had a sore stomach after drinking it and finally read that cold brewed will help that. It did.
I miss coffee because other than the jolt, it gave me a 'dessert drink' experience because I load it up with maple syrup and oat milk. Yum.
After a couple of months of whatever caffeine I am using, I vow to stop, so wean myself off (so as not to get a migraine) and go on with my life. Then need it again.
Once when I was a single mom, working two jobs, about to lose my home to foreclosure, I complained to my psychiatrist that I was exhausted and drinking coffee each morning to get by. She said "go for a walk instead. It will wake you up and give you that same energy." I felt like giving her a black eye.

I tend to avoid Red Bull - it sometimes gives me palpitations and I have read it can be dangerous for the cardiovascular system.

Coffee, tea and soda I like to drink, however.

^ I avoid red bull too. For me the issue with the stuff is the taste. I tried some once and my thought was something along the lines of, 'I bet this is what battery acid tastes like'. :eew:

Coffee and tea I love. I drink half a pot of coffee a day and if it's cold(ish) weather, I'll drink a cup of hot tea in the evening. As for alcohol and soda, I like both in moderation but wouldn't drink either on a daily basis. Soda is great for things like a time I might order pizza because pizza and soda is a winning combo, imho. I tend to indulge and get a bottle of baileys once a month and proceed to drink the whole damn thing in a day or two. Lol. It's freakin delicious.

None of that really impacts my health one way or the other. I don't get revved up from caffeine, so my coffee chugging ways hasn't messed up my sleep, mood, or anything. It does help me wake up, but I'm not sure how much of that is the coffee or the hour or so I take in my morning routine...it might just take me an hour to wake up and become coherent. Not sure. I am addicted to caffeine though. If I don't drink coffee, I will get a headache.

I don't feel like crap after having tea, soda, or alcohol. I find tea soothing, alcohol helps me sleep sometimes, soda does nothing one way or the other.

I find caffeine can wake me up a little. It has a mild stimulant effect for me.

Alcohol is a depressant and predictably makes me sleepy.

I need a lot of caffeine to get any sort of 'buzz' from it, since I have built up a large tolerance to it, over the years.

For the last 20 years or more I started the day with a brewed coffee.
I've had to abandon that as it now causes my throat to clog up and I've gone back to tea.
If I need energy or have to stay up all night I go for Bupropion.

I'm addicted to Coke Zero Sugar. Especially at night time after dinner. I almost crave it then. But I have no trouble with going off to sleep.

I like a cup of tea or coffee every now and then but only when it's cold.

I've never had an energy drink. I smelt a Red Bull can and didn't know what to make of it.

Very rarely have any alcohol..maybe wine a few times a year. Must have coffee with breakfast. Love tea, hot or iced. Used to drink soda ..last time I had a Coke or Pepsi was something like 15 years ago.

Currently just one non-decaffeinated cup of green tea in the morning, then about 8 cups of decaffeinated green tea during the rest of the day, with one jasmine pearl added to improve the flavour. Zero alcohol, and that's unlikely to change over Xmas. Zero "soda" (I presume that means fizzy pop with sugar and sweeteners), apart from the occasional small cup of tonic water if I'm feeling queasy.

The reasons: I'm a bit worried about my heart these days, plus I'm aware that alcohol is a carcinogen. I don't crave coffee, caffeine, or alcohol and am happy with the tea I drink. I'd quite like to drink coffee but it stains my teeth.

I usually drink about two cans of soda a day. It helps me feel a tad more awake. I never drink energy drinks, tea, or coffee. I do ocasionally take a caffeine pill that may have about as much caffeine as a cup of coffee to help me feel more awake when I have to be up early to do something. I seldom drink alcohol but it helps me relax & makes me tired.

Energy drinks rarely do much for me, and Red Bull tastes vile.

I try to avoid alcohol mostly because if I have it regularly I start to crave it.

I try to avoid soda too, quitting sugary drinks was harder than quitting alcohol by a large margin.
