I drink either water or iced tea (weak strength) most of the day. At breakfast, I alternate between a glass of regular V8 juice and the low sodium version each day. Occasionally I will substitute the regular V8 with orange or grape juice. Once a week I can have a soda pop, but I often just avoid having one altogether.

No alcohol, coffee or Red Bull for me. I am allergic to alcohol and do not need the caffeine boost from the other two. Caffeine causes my heart to beat too fast with my congestive heart disease issues. That will cause it to age faster over time. You only have so many heart beats that your heart can do before it wears out.

Coffee is the sunrise of my morning - caffeine, warmth and happiness.
Green tea just makes me feel balanced and I love the flavor
I do drink alcohol - usually red wine.

I'm not one for soda or energy drinks.

When I was younger and I realised alcohol allowed me to socialise I would drink whisky or bourbon mixed with red bull. About half a can per drink so it wasn't uncommon to drink 4 cans in an evening. I can't imagine doing that now. It must have done some damage.

That always worries me. My heart beats unusually fast.

Careful on the self medication, with these products , from the above, Whereas he was much more social after drinking ,
Me too.
but often I think it maybe likely that Aspies are prone to Anxiety, especially socially . And relieving that anxiety someway, does wonders , but underlying the Anxiety is some abnormally (high Cortisol levels) .A by product of stress.
Somewhere I read that "Potentially" cortisol levels in the blood have been linked to a high Mortality rate .

Yes there's a balance in these things, and reducing anxiety is beneficial in itself.

I'm pretty sure that elevated cortisol would increase the blood pressure, and hypertension is a known killer.

Caffeine also tends to elevate blood pressure and the risk of death from cardiovascular disease, but:
"Drinking just one cup of coffee or any amount of green tea – regardless of blood pressure level – did not raise the risk [of dying from cardiovascular disease]." ........"The authors suggested that polyphenols – micronutrients found in green tea that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties – may partially account for why the drink was not linked to the increased death risk associated with high coffee consumption."
https://www.heart.org/en/news/2022/12/2 ... the-coffee

So green tea may be the answer if you can acquire a taste for it. But one has to be careful with applying research data to the individual. According to practically every source I've seen, nicotine raises the blood pressure, but when I carefully measured mine before and after vaping more nicotine than I would have normally taken, my blood pressure didn't go up at all. I did the experiment a few times but got the same result. Doesn't rule out a longterm effect of course, and that's harder to test. It's also a shame that we can't get direct evidence for a given behaviour increasing the risk of the death of an individual, without killing them in the process.

One of the oldest men in the world was a chain smoker. Individuals can make a mockery of the received medical wisdom.

I'm a total tea-oholic. I seldom drink much of anything else, although I usually just have water when I'm really thirsty. I don't put sugar in my tea, I find the 1% milk I put in sweetens it enough. I used to feel guilty about my tea drinking but it's not nearly as bad as pop, or fruit juice which has more sugar than pop, and I have to put sugar in coffee. And tea has antioxidents so it's not all bad.

I have never touched Red Bull or any of those energy drinks. Just the warnings on the cans make me nervous that my heart will explode or something. Also I bet they taste like rat pee because I never hear anyone talking about how they taste, only about them giving you energy. :eew:

Coffee: I find coffee to be relaxing. However, too much caffeine is too relaxing and I'll end up drowsy (and possibly fall asleep).

Red Bull and other energy drinks: I don't drink it. I hate the smell. Also, from previous experience - high caffeine and high sugar levels tends to mean that I'll be physically exhausted but I'll have all the motivation in the world and my mind will be buzzing. Which is a terrible combination.

Alcohol: I typically end up giddy and flushed in the face. Usually laughing at nothing. I'll tire myself out. Apparently, one time I was rolling around singing the Spice Girls and fell asleep. My tolerance is very low. I drink on special occasions, usually about one or twice every three months or so.

Soda: I don't mind Sprite or Fanta or J20 but I usually just have watered-down fruit juice.

Tea: Similar to Coffee. Although I also like caffeine-free herbal tea. I love a camomile tea and a rich tea biscuit - a winning combination if you ask me. I tend to prefer coffee over tea but don't mind a tea every now and then (I'm British I swear ).

I never drank any energy drinks like red bull.

I rarely ever drank tea and alcohol. Like few times a year rare.
First time I drank alcohol was just about less than 6 years ago. First I actually tried tea was more or less the same time.

I have on-off habits with carbonated drinks and coffee since childhood and teenage years.

Mostly because I do like the taste; but the effects it just as confusing; I spent with most of my years that coffee doesn't give me an effect as intended; then now it does.
I'm still not sure if it'll help me not falling asleep or make me fall asleep more.

There had been years I take coffee everyday and quit them cold turkey for a really long time.
I can always go back to the same habit, yet I also can leave whenever it happens. It's like I can always quit anytime.

I'm trying to limit coffee by 2 times a week, and never drink twice within 30+ hrs. Else I'd have a headache right after... My body is really just that stupid sensitive.

There will be weeks and months that I regularly drank soda.
Depending on the occasion, I might ended up with few glasses or few bottles...
I very much got this habit from my mom; which is a terrible combination with whatever I inherited from my dad.

I mostly drink water, milk with cereal or in cooking only. Herbal tea a couple times a week (unsweetened). They're enough for a person who doesn't like sugar, caffeine or need more energy. :) I worked at a community kitchen before and couldn't believe the amount of coffee and tea we sold. I guess most people aren't like me. 8O
