About a month ago, as I was leaving Istanbul to travel to Athens, this Russian babushka enacted a conversation with me. It came off awkward, and I was okay with that, as my Russian was poor, as well as her knowledge of the English language. Anyways, when it ended, she recommended if I traveled to Russia, as Russian girl/English speaker would be there to show me around. I seriously thought over her offer, and now believe everyone from the Zionist west should take this interesting Russian grandmother up on her offer. After all, we all only live once. So why live your live complaining on any social media platform instead of taking a risk and maybe finding your soulmate? Maybe finding someone out there? Why let some geriatric boomer scare you about Russia when you can take the plunge? Just leaving that out there.....

Why let some geriatric boomer who simps for Russia do all of your thinking for you?

Do you really think there's no valid concerns about living in an authoritarian s**thole ran by gangsters and oligarchs?

I fail to see how moving to somewhere with even less protections against oligarchs and their influence represents an upgrade. It's like trading a s**t sandwich for a s**t sandwich with arsenic sauce.

Because not only are Russian ladies more interested in the person rather than how much they make, but also they're looking to a future with a gentlemen not exactly from Russia itself.

Trust me, it can be worse. I haven't personally been to Russia, but I did used to live in China and it warps your brain faster than you'd necessarily expect. Certain things just cannot be talked about and if you're caught interfering with their internal politics, there's potential consequences including deportation and probably the possibility of being sent to prison. But, unlike in Russia, you don't really have journalists being gunned down in the streets and the worst things you're likely to deal with are potential muggings.

Really, I wouldn't recommend people move to any authoritarian regime as they all tend to suck and they all have very effective tools for changing the way that you think about their rulers.

You do realize that a bunch of those are scams, right? The whole business of moving to a new country doesn't really ever solve problems, you're still you and you're just swapping one set of problems for another. The language gap alone can be a major problem. I was able to speak enough Chinese to get around within a few months, but it still meant that everything that I did outside of my work hours just took a lot more time if I didn't want to beg one of the other teachers or a student to come with me to help things get done in an expedient fashion.

What makes you think that Russian women are different in this respect?

As an American woman, I know many women, myself included, who care more about personality traits than income.

That's a good point. People sometimes have this idea that marrying somebody in a different country will solve problems, and as somebody who married an immigrant, I can confirm that all that does is swap one sets of pros and cons for another. It definitely can work, but there's no reason to believe that marrying women from another country is going to solve anything. And that includes any culture that has a reputation for the women being better for men. Often those women are a lot harder to be in a relationship with because the ones that are into patriarchy tend to also be the ones that aren't marrying out of their culture.

So basically, you've been propagandized into believing you'll have a greater market value in Russia, despite a lack of evidence to support that belief?

Hot Russian singles are just as ready to meet you as hot local singles, but at least you won't be in Russia when the realization that things aren't actually better sinks in.

Also, well said to MatchboxVagabond and TP.
