PBS has a new show called "Carl the Collector", about an autistic raccoon who collects all kinds of things. If you've seen it what do you think?

My bride enjoys it, I think it is OK. I like that he is high-functioning and is actually functioning, just a bit odd.

I collected a few things but I don't think I had as many collections as Carl does.

My bride laughed when he had a collection of toothbrushes, but I don't have a collection of toothbrushes. It's not a collection, it's just a stockpile.

I had not seen a full episode, just the trailer for it. It looks to be an interesting show that kids could easily get into. It may promote some of them to start collecting things themselves. I was much like that character as a kid.

As for what I collect, I am a collector of collections. I started with coins, then stamps, then chemistry sets/books, then Monopoly games, then silver, then baseball cards/autographs, then G.I Joes/Transformers, then video games, then...., ..., and eventually I started collecting vintage cars after high school. If it has value, I probably have at least a small collection of it hidden somewhere in storage. Every collection gave me an opportunity to learn about something that I was interested in. My classmates never had that type of spark in their lives from what I could tell.

I had to cut back on my cars, as it was costing me just too much to store them off site. At one time, I had the same number of project cars as I was years old. I have cut my project car collection down to a more reasonable size since then. Some I sold for a profit and I gave a few away to good friends. I do not consider myself rich by any means, I just have a knack for finding deals at the right place and right time.

I like it so far! Not the best animation style, Elinor Wonders Why looks better but EWW doesn't have any autistic characters I know of (was hoping it would be Koa the Wombat!)

This cartoon does not beat around the bush when depicting autism and the life of autistic creatures! It depicts autism better than other cartoon have including Arthur, Hero Elementary and even that Irish cartoon Pablo (and Carl the Collector has more effort put into it than Pablo!)

I like that there are two autistic characters and one of them is a girl (we seem to have more male autistic characters than female and it's good to have one of each in the same cartoon! Yeah there's The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy but that cartoon doesn't amount although the main characters in that cartoon are also said to have autism!)

Another great thing about Carl the Collector, it shows that autistic people aren't all the same. One of the autistic characters seems to be more sensitive to loud noises than the other one. And while one character revealed he had autism to his friends, the other one isn't ready for anyone else to know other than whom she already told!

Some of it also reminds me of my own experiences as an autistic person myself, especially in the episode "The Fall," when you see someone hurts him or herself or needs help but you don't know what to do.

I recommend watching Carl the Collector!
