I had a thyroid peroxidase TPO antibody test and scored 2,800 IU/ml which apparently means I have raging autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's). I also have a multinodular goitre and high thyroid stimulating hormone TSH level.

Does anyone else here have thyroid disease, and can you share your experiences? I'm wondering what I'm in for.

Hmm.. have known folks with Wilsons disease . Know of Hasimotos....And as I understand periods of. fatigue are a factor ..And know people who had goiters removed off the thyroid.. Have had a "few very competint doctors ."
Inform me about the long term consequences of eating lots of USA style diet food. And due to the Lack of nutrient the body needs to normally fend off disease. People get sick. And starts to manifest as non life threatening diseases in the body .. based on those Doctor opinions. before becoming life threatening .( Quote by Dr Caudill ) Learn to listen to your body) basically do not ignore symptoms .. Best option imho, and experiences find a quality Naturopath ....And then see if you can find one that might specialize in Hashimotos..Just a thought. Natutopaths general attempt to treat the cause of the Health issue. Not just treating symptoms .As most ALL md,s. do in the USA.

Thanks Jakki.

I have been trying to eat a natural diet without junk food or highly processed food, and I temporarily cut out gluten and dairy, but it doesn't seem to be helping much. Still getting headaches and fatigue, joint pains etc. I don't really know what else I can do, until the doctor puts me on thyroid medication.

I got a lump on my forearm which I thought might be a rheumatoid nodule and the Dr agreed to do a blood test for that as well, just in case. As it's possible to have multiple autoimmune conditions at the same time. If that comes back positive she's going to refer me to a rheumatologist.

Good Luck on the Reumatologist..Peeps seem to not always realise , that it takes years to develop bigger systemic
issue ..And generally might take a long time to resolve them. Might get yourself tested for the gluten intolerance ?
Just a thought ....Low level allergic reactions tend to get ignored by people, eventually potentially turning into bigger issues . After a few years.. The low level chronic allergic stuff, causes a low level of chronic inflammation . Which starts to affect other areas of the body ,as a side effect of extended periods of inflammation. After awhile ( years) .
Systemic dysregulation , can lead to a weird collection of lots of minor issues, that stack up on themselves.
At least this has been my experience ..Hope things go better for you in this New Year.
