Cancer research volunteering Job!

At the moment I am volunteering for cancer research for a few hours/few times a week

Can I still get the same amount of respect back from others even if I what I do does not pay any money?

Very Noble to volunteer for that type of Research...certainly I hope you are volunteering, to help people but not get infected with cancer yourself ? Unless that is why you are doing the Research type work.... 8O

I did this at one point few years ago, only I had to prove to others, both family and the job centre, that I wasn't lazy and scrounging off benefits but still had to look for paid work but volunteering would at least give me confidence in talking to people as opposed to sitting at home alone.
