Today, I received my first official diagnosis. For the first time in my life, I was diagnosed by a modern specialist: Asperger syndrome. This diagnosis has only been recognized in my country for the past ten years, and it is even more challenging to diagnose in women.
This revelation has changed everything I have worked on until now. I realize that I am neither ill nor crazy, and my social difficulties have clear explanations. I’m relieved to know that there are no medications required for my condition—aside from 5-HTP and GABA—because I truly dislike taking medications.
My mother thought I was just lazy and many people were confused with my behavior. She didn't care about me because I was an extremely hard kid to communicate with and after my sister was born, my mother just wanted me to earn money for them (which was impossible due to my condition which nobody believed in). I struggled when I left home at 20, but it was a relief not to be under the pressure of being labeled a "damaged kid," especially since I have a successful stepsister and two stepbrothers, which gave my parents alternatives.
I have searched for answers my entire life, and I was only diagnosed properly now, at 34 (almost 35). I went through hell, and that was an incredible experience.
My passions are new experiences, bicycle and yoga. I love learning about people and studying their behaviors. Nice to meet you!

volsinchy, Nice to meet you. Another Aspie like myself. What information can I pass onto you.

Humans are very complex beings. This is because we have multiple brains. One exist on the left side of our skull and it is the dominant brain. The other exist on the right side and it normally occupies our night time brain that exist in REM and deep NREM sleep. But for some of us we are reversed.

So understand that you have skills that are different then others. Most people have +s and -s. Skills they are good at and skills they are not good at. But in the case of Aspies, we have ++s and --s. And some of us are +++++s and -----s. The secret in life is to learn what your +s are and use them to defeat and control your -s.

You wrote that you like bicycling. That is a good skill. If you exercise about an hour a day, you can melt your stress away.

You also wrote that you have a passion for new experiences. That is one of your special skills. Those that came before us were the first people who walked on the moon and soon we will fly to the stars.

Thanks a lot. We are social creatures, but being with people is harsh and chats are too fast. Forums have always been my favorite place to communicate.
