How old are you?

How much do you earn?

How much have you saved for retirement?

How worried are you about not having enough $$$ for retirement?

Something paltry... I think if I withdrew interest I could buy a pair of boots every year.

See Q2. As long as I stay on the farm I'm set. I have to wait for the mother-in-law to die before anything else becomes an option.

I am not going to share my age.
I get a social security disability check plus 10 grand of healthcare per month.
I have over 300,000 dollars total I think.I have about 3 to 5 Million in trust funds.
I am not too worried because my parents are going to leave me at least 3 to 5 million dollars upon their passing.

I am 65 and took early retirement last year due to health issues related to hEDS and MCAS.

A serious of abusive relationships between the ages of 22 and 57 left me with no assets and a seriously depleted occupational pension fund.

I now live on disability and other benefits in addition to a small occupational pension. I reside in social housing and have a 'life time' tenancy that I share with my wife. Later this year I will be eligible for state pension - however this will make no material difference as the amount I receive will be deducted from various benefits that I claim now.

So after working 46 years, building a career as a specialist clinician and completing two higher level degree courses I have not really benefited in a material sense. A succession of neurotypical and exploitative partners have though so I guess someone has gained!

Whilst this may sound rather depressing I am not at all bitter, resentful or sad about it. I am in a happy place. I live in a neurodivergent household that is filled with acceptance and laughter. The things that I value cost either nothing or very little. I have enough to pay my bills, eat and follow my artistic interests. Thats all that matters to me really.

The neo liberal capitalist system that we live in tends to rob us of joy and perpetuates needless guilt and oppression with its focus on production and the necessity for everyone to work. People who are unable for whatever reason to work are usually valued less - whilst those that are able and spend most of their time generating enormous wealth for a small elite are valued highly. It feels like we are all the subject of some enormous confidence trick.

I acknowledge that the above can be viewed as simplistic and naïve, and yes I do have a reasonable grasp of how macro and micro economics work but all the same this is just how I view it.

In summary - I love being retired. I enjoy being part of the running of a couple of charities on an unpaid basis and having the time to focus on my other interests without the demands and stress of having to interact with the NT world unless I want to.
