They are pretty critical of my posts. I asked a question about a character on a show and I got replys like "have you even watched the show?" Yes I did but I missed something due to aspergers. I've had simple questions being deleted for being a simple question. I've made a title and the content a youtube video because I thought it was funny but the mods said it was too low investment. I'm expected to write a well written review of why I didn't like a video game instead of just stating how I felt about it.

Redditt is a real echo chamber of very toxic human beings. If you avoid any subreddit on it that has anything to do with gender, politics, religion, fandom, and basically anything where someone might have a different opinion, then you might be reasonably safe.

Also redditors tend to believe women, people over the age of 25, and people from countries outside the US don't exist. If you tell them you're not from the US, they say something such as "Reddit is an American website and the majority of people on it are American and bla bla bla" So that must mean we don't exist.

Yeah, for me, it depends on the subreddit. I had some horrible experiences on certain ones while others I frequented were okay.

Never really used it it's not my scene

When I first discovered Reddit, it became my replacement for Quora. I liked how you can look up useful information or peoples' experiences/reviews on a niche subject matter. Also, it's the few social media sites that have that old-school forum UI.

However, my experience hasn't been swell either. I one time made an account just to solely search for a obscure lost commercial and the only comment on my thread was from snarky skeptic that for sure was a karma farming account.

Even as a lurker, Reddit took a toll on my mental health. From my personal experience, it seems any sub is going to have a landmine. It's pretty much a softcore 4Chan. As a plus size lady, it's so prevalent to see misogyny and fataphobia on the platform.

I've been trying to find ways to weed out Reddit in the search results. One way is to type the prompt "-site:reddit.com." However, you have to constantly type that in which is infuriating. On mobile anyways. Doesn't help that Google's algorithm favors these popular social media sites.

Maybe I might end up switching to a different search engine just to curb my addiction...

I never posted on reddit but I've stumbled across various subreddits doing google searches & some were pretty good & others seem hostile & extremely toxic. I guess it depends on what the subreddit is for & the mods/admins managing it. One thing I find annoying is the automatic bot replies to remind users of the rules & half the time the rules were not close to being violated. Other times the rules are being blatantly violated & there is no reminders from the bots. The bot rule reminder system seems totally random like their is no AI vetting involved at all.

Don't use Reddit my suggestion.

I recently switched from Chrome to DuckDuckGo and whenever I look up questions, Reddit and Quora don't monopolize the search results. It's such a breath of fresh air.

I still use Chrome though soley just to download stuff since downloading on DDG hasn't been working well for me.

Chrome is a browser, DuckDuckGo a search engine.
The best would be switch to ChromIUM (or better Librewolf based on Firefox) then use DuckDuckGo.

I got banned from the cognitive testing subreddit.

Never trust in those kind of browser, they are own by a company... I know exist as I know exist Ecosia but are merely Chrome forks.

Do you know how it works? Edge, Brave, Ecosia, DockDuck... are whole Chrome since the code which they are based on is Chrome. Chromium is different, it is a community software still owned by Google LLC but comunitarian (see Fedora for Rhel).
Then you've got Firefox owned by Mozilla, it is owned by a company but is managed as Chromium.
Then if you choose Librewolf you choose a fork of Firefox whitout Mozilla.

Ecosia and DuckDuckGo are company based, not comunitarian, so at this point use Brave that at least give you a greater experience.

DuckDuckGo as browser was born as merely pro profit further more Microsoft paied them.

Now, if you choose Librewolf is another thing.

As for Arc browser, I would never trust in a small company in Usa tbh.

I'm not interested in getting dragged into the weeds over the merits of DDG browser, I'm merely refuting the claim that DDG doesn't have a browser.

Whether or not it's a good browser is a separate conversation from whether or not it exists.
