Hey :-) I'm Alice and I just came across this site whilst researching the history of autism for my dissertation. I'm really into the human mind and I would love any recommendations for books/stuff about historical psychiatric practices + beliefs. I'm reading Healthy Minds in the Twentieth Century: In and Beyond the Asylum right now and it has a really comprehensive but easy to read history of psychiatry and autism (and other mental health conditions).

I'm also into sea creatures/deep sea gigantism, music (mostly dnb/electronic/anything with cool guitar), cooking + baking, and making art! I welcome any suggestions for good forums to make friends and talk about interests :^)

Have a cool day.

Hi ferretliker67 and welcome to Wrong Planet.

You are researching information about the condition called Autism and the structure of the human mind. I think you found the right place. Humans are a very complex construction much more advanced then what most people realize. That is because we have multiple brains. The human skull has two sides. One exist on the left side of the skull and is the dominant daytime brain. The other exists on the right side and is a support brain that exist in REM and deep NREM sleep. But sometimes there is a reversal that takes place.

There is a very interesting book that might provide some insight into this subject. IT IS A DEEP DIVE.
The book is called Whole Brain Living by Jill Bolte Taylor, Ph.D
There is a lot of insight to be gained here.
