Well trump/Musk bizzare initiatives continue.
U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he would like to close the U.S. Department of Education using an executive order but acknowledged he would need buy-ins from Congress and teachers' unions to fulfill his campaign pledge to do so.

The Education Department has been high on Trump's list of targets. A White House official said an executive order expected to be issued later in February would direct the secretary of education to work to close the department.

Trump said he would "like to be able" to close the department with an executive order alone. Congress would need to pass legislation to shut down the department, however.

this would make the US the only western country in the world without an federal education department. I never saw this one coming.

Part of Project '25 includes throwing librarians and teachers in jail and requiring them to register as sex offenders if they have books about gender and sexuality in their libraries.

If I were them, I would be looking for books about how to break out of prison, and how to remove and disable ankle bracelets.

I think this is the fascist tactic of make people stupider, by banning actual education and only allowing indoctrination. They are already creating a department to protect Christian rights and stop all us non Christian people who are always violently storming capital buildings. Somehow those peaceful protests across all 50 states are concerning violence but January 6th where they literally stormed the capital...no big deal. (donald trump voice) 'I don't know about january 6th but I know these 'liberal' 'leftists' are getting violent they're gathering I don't like these protests, shut it down'.

George Orwell predicted this. If you limit what people read its easier to control the masses. trump is exactly like the character of Napoleon in "Animal Farm", wins his followers over with slogans and empty promises.

He doesn't care about anybody but himself, so who here thinks the US will slowly
become even more like the US depicted in Mike Judge's film Idiocracy?

They're trying to recreate 1950s America (or rather, a fantasy version of it). For some people, it was a great time. For others, it was no better than Nazi Germany.

The average American seemed a bit smarter in the 50s.
It's all going to be downhill from here

My rule regarding the 50s: Live your life in a way that Joe McCarthy would have you blacklisted.

We can't wait until 2028. We have to get him out the same way we've done with dictators in the past--a classic coup d'etat.
