Standing up to people
Ye and we girls get slapped too, kinds learn to say things more subtle or keep quiet after a while.
I wasn't much of a fighter, even training MMA I would freeze, forget, have heart rate. Think I avoid conflict at all costs
I noticed my ASD son doesn't always get picture, his ADHD brother can be quite rough, hard on words...suppose I can't stop it altogether as it's his life lessons too.
Using a scene from "The Good Doctor" isn't really applicable to situations involving actual autistic people in the real world.
What was the reason you were thinking about this right now? Has something happened to you or your son?

Standing up for yourself, Conceptualized for me , was going back to the concept of caring for your inner child ..
And due to non support and abuse early in life . Caused. me to take the inner child thing literally. For Instance:
If you were the actual parent of your own child . What kind of abuse by strangers to your child would you put up with?
A verbal abuse of your child , watch them recieve a beating while you just looked and watched it happen?
Would you stand up for your child? Especially if what you were watching happening was done with meaness or malice.
You might just stand up for thst child ? And Now in the future if something feels off to you. It will take practice, but after awhile it will be more automatic , when you start of thinking in terms of protecting your child. Everytime ,you get a chance to step back for a moment . If feeling badly about your treatment by others . Think in terms of , what you might say or do to protect that child ( your innerself) . But it took me years to get to that point, but the anuse of myself was quite serious early on in life.
Best Wishes to all.
