If a person, believes what their relative says , and uses the recommendation without looking at other options, when there are plenty of choices , is this a sign of autism ?

I wouldn't have thought so. More like a huge trust in the relative, which may or may not be justifiable, or maybe they haven't learned to think critically yet. OTOH I think there's a tendency for the mind to clutch at the first explanation of a thing.

I don't know anybody whose opinion or advice I would trust indiscriminately. To my mind, nobody is immune from talking rubbish.
