Rouge the Bat's age should be moved up to 21. No 18 year old high schooler should be dressed in a suggestive manner. This is promoting Ephebophilia both Canon and in the fandom. She's just ASKING for the degrading weird fanart, and 18 year old high schoolers should not be sexualized. This bothers me to no end ever since someone I followed said 18 year olds are considered minors. Why the hell is it considered the age of consent then? (My state has it as 16 which is even worse) Not to mention she's an animal.

Game companies that make childrens games like Nintendo and Sega, please make more plus size characters I can relate to that the incel basement dwellers would avoid. If they are still fanservice, make sure they are 20+ years old.

Here's my view I actually consider 18 the awkward age - it's considered legal to vote and reproduce, but not to drink and such.

18 can be a bit awkward, especially depending on a few variables. When I was 17, a 20 something young man in my church made it clear on several occasions that he had the countdown of when I’d turn 18 firmly in mind. I felt self-conscious about him looking at my legs when I got baptized at 15. He was a weirdo, and my turning 18 didn’t change that fact in my mind.

Overall though, 18 year olds are technically adults. I think they should change the laws regarding alcohol, especially since they let people join the military at such a young age.

As someone who creates and draws her own cast of cartoon animals, people are going to make degrading fan art no matter what age the character is or how they physically appear, so you might as well draw them however you want.

Years ago I once saw fan art of Bub, the *10-year-old* green Bubble Dragon from the Bubble Bobble games, drawn as an adult female with huge breasts.

Yes, it's creepy and total cringe, but most humans, especially sex-crazed teenagers, are idiots and love rule 34. There's nothing you can do about it, so you might as well ignore it so it doesn't drive you insane.

Also 18 is legally an adult, at least in Canada and Traitor Country. But most 18 year olds are incredibly immature and idiotic for their age. Most 18 year olds have graduated from high school and are getting ready for college. It was once common for someone to automatically move out of their parents' house when they turned 18 and live their own life. Of course, that's mainly the older adult's fault.

Rouge's canon age is 18, although given how Sonic is 15 and Knuckles is 16 it seems like characters reach adulthood earlier in the Sonicverse compared to humans IRL. This is at least partially because the Sonic franchise wants the characters to be relatable to young kids, for whom a 16 or 18 year old really does seem a lot more grown-up than they are.

Getting hung up on this stuff really seems like a distraction if it's interfering with your ability to enjoy the franchise. There's always going to be people that interpret characters they find appealing in a 'sexy' manner and getting fixated on policing how other people enjoy fiction is a waste of energy.

At the end of the day, people gooning over fictional characters is a victimless crime. How other people enjoy the franchise doesn't really impact you, unless you choose to engage with dirty fanart. Some of the people who perv on young fictional characters are age-appropriate (teenagers are expected to want to hook-up with other teenagers after all), and for the ones who aren't age-appropriate, it's better they fixate on fictional characters than real people.
