Hi yall
Do yall think working as a greeter at Walmart would be Asperger-friendly? I am looking for a job. I have multiple college degrees but I have been pretty much unemployed ever since college graduation. This would be in the great state of Texas.

It depends on your socializing issues.
Face blindness is a big problem for some. Who am I talking to?
I don't think face blindness is an issue for Walmart greeters as nobody expects you to remember their name.
Some of can handle a simple social script that is repeated over and over again.
Some of us can handle the monotony of doing the same thing over and over again much better than NTs.

Yes, I think that would be good if you don’t mind interacting with people very briefly. There is no ambiguity in the job duty. Simply smile and say ‘Hello. Welcome to Walmart.’ You may have some customers ask you for the location of various in-store departments. Most of the customer inquiries should be known to you. If you don’t know, you can direct them to a supervisor or manager. Plus, you have the opportunity to make someone’s day with a :D smile.

Go for it!

The Walmart greeters at the store in my town aren't there to greet us, they are there to say goodbye after they check our receipt and bags. I haven't seen the classic greeter in a long time, not since theft levels increased dramatically.

That can be good for some spectrum people too. If you are good at pattern recognition and identifying anomalies.
