At least not to me.
Here in the U.S., starting May 7, 2025, you will need a "Real ID" or "Enhanced ID" to fly on an airplane. While I find the terms confusing, I think I finally understand that Real ID is for domestic flights and Enhanced also includes travel to Canada and certain other destinations.
I'm done trying to get one of these IDs. Just done. Last time I went to the DMV, everything was accepted except that I didn't have 2 pieces of mail to prove my current address that were considered acceptable by their standards. Today I went back in with all the previous proof plus multiple pieces of government mail sent to my current address and a pay stub from work. Now, NONE OF IT WAS ACCEPTED. This time, my birth certificate supposedly had "letters missing," a misspelling of my middle name on my existing ID makes it invalid (I tried for years to get that corrected) and none of the other proof was deemed accepable. The clerk was cold and unpleasant, though the other clerk helping her was nicer.
I believe this process is abusive and discriminatory towards neurodivergent people, who struggle to understand what these organizations want from us, and I hope it all gets cancelled. I never had a problem getting an ID before. Allegedly it's important to national security. I think they just wanted money as these IDs are expensive. If you really need to confirm who I am, spy on me! I don't care! Just don't make me go through this. I am so angry and sad. This means that after May, I can never fly again. I only just started flying last year. But I won't go through this again only to be potentially rejected over some other technicality.
