It wouldn't matter, because the MAGAs have control of all three branches of government.

We have federalism in this country so states still have a good deal amount of power.Quite a few states are blue and are able to enact anti-republican policies at the state level. The MAGAs dont have control over all 50 states.Maybe the OP should go to a blue state that has a lower cost of living like New Mexico maybe.Maybe try New Mexico, OP.

Oklahoma is not a blue state. And I can't afford to move.

Right, so then what? If you can't even afford to move to a different state, then you're definitely not going to be able to move to a new country. As bad as things are in a lot of ways in the US, we're not exactly at the point where other countries are organizing refugee flights for asylum seekers.

I've moved overseas and to get a work visa there's a fair amount of rules and there's likely to be requirements about having a plane ticket back home already, and certain bank account levels to ensure that you're able to go when you're done. On top of that, even when you do get a job, it can take a period to get paid, and working overseas may not be the most stable thing, depending upon the specifics of where you're talking about and what you're planning on doing.

And when I get there, then what? Where am I going to live? How will I afford the high rent over there?

i think going to any foreign country is fine as long as you can relate to the culture and dont stick out too much.

It also helps to be able to eat cheaply available food.

Lots of well off Americans move to Hawaii and discover that the familiar food they like to eat is very expensive.
They don't realize that a box of cereal is expensive in Hawaii. Locals eat stuff like SPAM.

A lot of them don't last more than two or three years before moving back to the mainland or CONUS.

Something to consider if you are picky about food.

Donald Trump is now is the process of destroying our economy with his idiotic trade wars while also gutting healthcare and education. He wants to withdraw from the World Health Organization and gut the CDC. It will not be long before disease is rampant while we all starve.

But even before Trump:

Healthcare was already increasingly unaffordable while being low quality compared to other developed nations. Our food was already toxic. Cost of living was already soaring while wages remained stagnant. Politics are insane. Obsessive gun culture was rampant and mass shooting had long become an expected norm of daily life. Racism, xenophobia, homophobia, and ableism were already rampant. We were already knee deep in a loneliness epidemic. And Joe Biden and the Democratic Party, the supposed "good guys", were full blown supporting the genocide of Palestinians. The party and candidate we were being told we were supposed to vote for because it was the lesser evil was actively participating in a genocide. Let that sink in.

In 2022, I visited Poland for 3 weeks. People were visibly healthier. Cities were walkable with reliable public transportation across the entire country. People were friendly and welcoming. I felt physically and mentally healthier than I have in at least a decade.

And then when I returned to the US, my depression got so bad that I had to be checked into a psych ward.

I'm sure Europe has many troubles. But it was still so much better than here. It just felt like a healthier society.

My family are all expats living abroad, and I grew up as an expat. That is why leaving the country is what makes sense for my situation. I have no family support here. But at the same time, my family and I do not see eye-to-eye because of their dogmatic devotion to Islam. They are extremely homophobic, among other problems, and attempting to reason with them is maddening. Not long ago, I got in an argument with my sister, in which she insisted I need to respect her and her country's "right" to execute people who do not believe in her religion.
