One thing to consider is that the education system and culture in east asia is highly competitive. the people who migrate from that region are usually the most competitive. Having lived there I can see it instils a certain bitterness when the outcomes aren't achieved. But on the flipside it also instills a certain arrogance/disdain toward people who perceived "below".

Jamesy shouldn't be a threat to this individual but I am beginning to to see this dude might potentially gaslight Jamesy which it's up to Jamesy to assert himself. Being assertive and standing up for yourself is an important trait to develop.

They might, but they might respect it less if they think you're doing it to brag about or win respect.

Doing it to win respect I hate to say

I respect you for saying that. That is exactly why autistic people are my people. I love it.

Hi Jamsey:

I thought about something else. Competitive people will also get close to anyone they feel threatened by make it sound like they want to be your friend. When in reality, they don't have your best interest at heart and want to know everything about you. People like this often enjoy to see you struggle and will most likely brag about how they are getting ahead.

Competitiveness is one of my first major red flags. Like you said, competitive people are part of a whole complex, and they want to see others fail. But personally, I cannot even tolerate the competitiveness alone. It's so annoying. You'll be there thinking you are sharing something, and they'll ruin it. "Hey, check this song out. I love it." "Oh yeah, mine is much better."
