who here feels besieged by our society's demand that they always are perfect, never make mistakes? I was at a home Depot store, I had to rent a truck and when they found out I forgot my cell phone, they made it seem like I was crazy. nowadays you need a cell phone in order to buy and sell, this is something right out of the biblical end-times warning.

All I see was generations of conditioned enablers of the stupid games they're playing, whether parents unwillfully participating or not, pass it onto their children, it's a manufactured "choice" by an assigned "value", of "priorities" and "virtue".

And those parents and children, are enforcing the same things onto their peers and of onto each other, without knowing why, only that the consequences are of from "society", that they are "few" and "they're many" or that "they're powerful" and they're "not".


Regardless.
I already can see beyond the veil.
Because I pursue demystifying the illusion of that "they are perfect" and "I am not". Utter BS.

This includes a collective common doubt and insecurities, yet overtly discouraged in the name of saving face, assigned virtues and compliant conformity.

Despite that it's a hidden denied norm that most people could've empathize but had to pretend not to and deny, giving this illusion of "oh, that's just me and not a so-called normal human thing" or that gaslight that it's isolated case thing than an actual human norm that could've been rectify if it weren't for the keeping up with the illusion via the "demands of social norms".

Let alone a BS so big that caters to the so called elite.

If you have a lot of money a bank will give you a special number so you can talk to someone without waiting in line.

I didn't realize I needed to upgrade my Iphone's operating system. Automatic updates only handles revisions, not upgrades. Revisions are the denoted by a monotonic increase in the number after the decimal point.
Anyway, the Golf Tournament sent me a special app so I didn't have to upgrade my phone!

I don't know. I don't want to invalidate anyone's experience but I do sometimes think the obligation towards perfectionism comes from ourselves, rather than others.

Personally, I hate anyone to see my flaws, which are many and varied. Forgetting something, like my phone or my wallet reveals my flakiness, my tendancy to be daydreaming. If I drop something or spill a drink, that reveals my clumsiness and lack of coordination. I don't like that.

The worst is if they see I'm uncomfortable or embarrassed, if I can't hold it together and recover from whatever just derailed me.

And I think I sometimes project my discomfort in those sort of situations on the people around me - the ones who have been treated to a glimpse behind the mask. Some times it feels as if I have become less than those people. Like they have one-up on me so to speak.

But as much as I feel it, I still think it's mostly all in my head and people don't really look at these minor mistakes as anything serious, they probably barely notice them and won't remember them.

Yes, some healthcare workers are genuinely surprised at how I managed to navigate healthcare web sites.
Often, older people can't do that and they have someone verbally fill out the questionnaires in person for things like colonoscopies. Of course I my procedure got moved up while that was done!

I think some of that perception may be that a lot of Aspies try to compensate for the ability to socially interact.

When I was a kid I would hear that it was okay to make mistakes as long as we learn from them.

Yeah right. Try telling that to a doctor. Or a judge. Or even a hairdresser. Or anyone who has been in school.

But humans won't stop making the same mistakes over and over and over and never learning anything. And that's why all the blatant stupidity in human history just repeats itself and gets worse each time.

That's why whenever I make a mistake I usually feel worse and a lot more stupid than most other people would.

I've noticed LOTS of double standards throughout my life. Different people can be held to very different expectations. The world is run by the rich & powerful & thus they can literally get away with murder. Look at what political leaders can get away with compared to the poor.

People expect us to be perfect little kings and queens who fit all the binaries of society. They expect us to be able-bodied fast thinkers who don't struggle with anything.

Yes it's true that wealthy people live by a different set of rules. Case in point: Donald Trump, convicted felon!

But you can say there are double standards for people of all walks of life.
Look at all of the things police officers can get away with. They can commit violent assaults and avoid criminal charges.

Where I am from, there is a big problem with drug addicts running rampant on the public transit system.
They often board the bus or train without paying the fare. They will do open drugs in the transit station
while the transit security are 10 feet away and doing absolutely nothing to enforce the rules.

If you are perceived as having the means to pay, you can be ticketed if you are caught boarding transit while bypassing the fare.

If you are a drug addict/homeless person who engages in the same illegal activity, you may be able to avoid a fine because the transit authorities know you haven't the means to pay the ticket and as such they look the other way.
