There are those of us who tend to think outside the box so tend to stand out as different and usually go deep into either religious spiritual subjects or UFO's etc, and those of us who can't think outside the box but instead tend to go deep in scientific subjects instead?
I have noticed on this site and it is interesting.

Autism is a spectrum, but within the spectrum we do have our extremes.

There are those of us who believe every word the news tells us, and those of us who don't believe a word the news says! It is like we fit into one extreme or another, but in that, I have noticed these two different groups. I wonder is psychologists have noticed this and have a name for it?

“Science is not only compatible with spirituality; it is a profound source of spirituality. When we recognize our place in an immensity of light‐years and in the passage of ages, when we grasp the intricacy, beauty, and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling, that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual. So are our emotions in the presence of great art or music or literature, or acts of exemplary selfless courage such as those of Mohandas Gandhi or Martin Luther King, Jr. The notion that science and spirituality are somehow mutually exclusive does a disservice to both.”

— Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark

As far as WP is concerned, I’m not sure if I would characterize it as an either/or. An interest in science and rationalism doesn’t mean that one doesn’t think outside the box although I suppose it depends on your perspective. Science is not a closed box. It’s about asking questions, exploring new ideas (even seemingly strange ones), and discovery. I also value the scientific method and emphasis on evidence because of the harm that pseudoscience poses to society.

“It pays to keep an open mind, but not so open your brains fall out.”

There are those that have a bit of both. I gave the examples to try and explain what I mean as it i hard to put into words. Why I wonder of there are psychological words to use to describe what I mean between the ones who are outside the box thinkers and those who can't think outside the box.

Here is an example. My Mum enjoys making things from wool. Blankets, hate etc. Now she does not use patterns. She just invents things as she goes along. Now a lady we know also enjoys making things, but if she has no instructions she can't do it. She has to have a written pattern to work by. Her work is intricate and perfect, but she can't think outside of a pattern of instructions. She often phones my Mum when a pattern does not make things clear, as she just can't do it thinking for herself. Is like that element of inventing things to make them work is not there with her. My Mum is the complete opposite. She would get really bored if she works to set patterns others have made. She has to invent her own or it would no longer ben fun for her.

Hope this example of what I mean makes sense to explain by what I mean by me noticing there are two types of autistic people I have noticed?

I think the opposites are rational thinking and logic on one side, versus being more gullible and irrational on the other. In my opinion thinking outside the box has nothing to do with it. The autistics I have met outside this forum have all been more into logic deductions than wishful thinking and "feelings".
