'Giggled seductively' seems an unusual choice of words. I'm not really sure how someone can giggle in a way that is seductive. To me, giggling would imply laughing giddily in a somewhat almost childish and carefree way. I could imagine it could be endearing but...seductive?

Why the caressing of dishwashing liquid? Leave the kitchen items alone. It could do with some toning down.

There were several behaviors that appeared related to each other because they involved inanimate objects...subjects sometimes "played with" an object, called object caress...Glasses were caressed with the woman sliding her palm up an down the surface of the glass

I couldn't think of a more phallic object near the kitchen sink.

Dominic stood outside his mother's house. The morning sun shone faintly on the Fegelein household. Next to him stood Marie. She wore an A-line short dress with a low neckline. "What?" asked Marie.

He shuffled his feet. "I didn't say anything" Dominic replied. He adjusted his clothing and took in a deep breath. "It's just, well, I would have preferred if you had dressed a little more", he gestured as he searched for the word, "conservatively".

Marie smiled. "Ah, well you know me, ever the devout nun". She gave a mock curtsy. "Now, shall we?"

Dominic sighed. "Well, at the very least wear this", he took off his jacket and went to hand it over.

She raised an eyebrow.

"You're right, my mother would probably question things if you started wearing my clothes" said Dominic. He put his jacket back on. "Just promise me you'll behave".

Marie smirked.

Thanks, but I'm thinking of Ronald being more passive at this point.

I would certainly scratch the phallic object idea. Stuff that’s posted on PUA sites likely wouldn’t appeal to female readers. It just seems over-the-top.

Well, we might, if we are reading up on female flirtation techniques.

Ok, I throw my hat into the ring:

During the morning, Dominic arrived at the Fegelein household, with Marie. Ronald, freshly bathed, hair combed, and wearing clean clothes, let them in. Ilsa, seated on the couch, watched Ox News.

“Good morning, Ronald,” greeted Dominic. “Marie is here to clean your house. And your mother will be staying home to supervise.”

“That’s right,” answered Ronald. Marie turned to Ronald and smiled. She kept eyecontact with him while Domic continued:

“Okay, have a good day,Marie, I’ll pick you up later this afternoon.”

“Yes sir,” answered Marie, still looking Ronald in the eyes with a slight smile. Then she a draw a breath, broke eye contact and walked towards the kitchen sink. Her hand moved over the bottle of dishwashing liquid, like she fondled it before she squeezed to squirt some soap onto the sponge under the faucet. She then began washing the accumulated dishes while humming " Raspberry Beret".
"I'm sorry!", she giggled. "I just love Prince's music!"
She slightly moved her hips in some kind of subtle dance moves.

But the "object caress" was mentioned in the 1985 article by Monica Moore. She didn't use the term "phallic", but she mentioned a woman caressing a glass (i.e., sliding her palm up and down the surface of a glass).

It doesn’t matter what Monica Moore said in 1985. It’s not something that would appeal to most female readers in 2025.

A woman shows up to work at an older woman's house, where her adult son stops by and bad-porn-movie-style flirting begins immediately.

No. Just, no. None of it.

Why is it so important for your story for this woman to be sexually interested in this man? And why at this particular stage of the story? And why so quickly?

Think about these questions, and start over.

This is Chapter X. They met several chapters ago. The story arc is that Ronald will eventually impregnate Marie. If I don't establish sexual interest, then my readers will accuse Ronald of rape.

I like it! I did not mention here that Marie is Haitian.

I wonder what this "exposing inner wrists" stuff is about?

Vanessa Van Edwards, 2025 wrote:

Showing the soft, vulnerable skin of the inner wrists is a subtle but powerful gesture of openness and trust. If she does this while talking to you, it’s a strong sign of comfort and attraction.

For example, she might place her hands on the table with her palms up, or when holding a drink, she might tilt her wrist to show the inner side, especially if she’s using both hands to hold it. This is a woman showcasing her femininity.

Miss Van Edwards isn't the only one who mentions it. It doesn't seem flirtatious at all to me. Stroking a phallic object--that I can get. But, trying to show the inner sides of her wrists? How is that a turn on?

What feedback were you hoping for in this thread? It doesn’t seem like you’re interested in constructive criticism and would prefer focusing on what you read elsewhere. That’s fine. I just don’t understand what your overall objective is here. Why ask for opinions if you’re just going to dismiss or rebut them?

Several female posters have similar views about the passage.

I agree with ChicagoLiz. Some of the flirting you employ is what I would expect to see in an old porno.

If your intention is to write something publishable, you probably need to fix the earlier scene because people likely wouldn’t be interested in reading further if they feel that behavior was nonconsensual. Consent needs to be established before, not after the fact.

I was trying to understand how women go about flirting, for my story. Your objection to one technique was that it was found in a scientific paper published 40 years ago, and that women no longer do it. But, I found a woman advocating it just this year. Some women must still do it, and find it empowering. If I see an objection, I at least want to verify it, before I remove it from my story.

Whatever I write or don't write, some people are going to find it offensive. My story will be extremely offensive to Trump Republicans.

I'll consider what to do with the earlier chapter, but I'm still leaning towards letting the readers stew on it. This isn't a Harlequin Romance. It is stinging satire.

There will always be exceptions when it comes to female behavior since women, like other humans, aren’t all the same. However, I do think it would be objectionable to most female readers, not because of conservatism but because the character seems more like some male’s fantasy than an actual woman, especially taking into account the guy masturbating while fantasizing about her as well as what apparently looked like nonconsensual touching to your classmates.

Women prefer to be viewed as fellow humans, not sexualized others. If this is meant to be a love story, toning down on the sex/sexualized behavior would be cool. Flirting often isn’t even about sex.

Does no-one have any idea what a woman exposing her inner wrist would be about?

Halle Berry seems to have it down.

I have never known a single woman who would act like this in real life, no matter how long she was acquainted with the relative of her employer.

It seems you are convinced that women don't know what they're talking about and thus can be ignored in this thread that you started supposedly to learn from women.

Obviously you can do what you like with regarding to writing a story, but please be honest that you don't care about how women think or act when you're posting here, because it's been a waste of our time to try to honestly help you.
