Does anyone else experience the following? I get these urges to tense my back, neck, head, and arms almost violently. If someone was looking at me, they may describe is as I thought I was falling and tried to brace or catch myself. it would look like I was It's not uncontrollable as I can negate them. However, it feels like I need to do that. The urges comes from below my neck. It almost always happens at night. I don't know if it's a tic or not because I can control it. I've had these since early childhood.

Could it be the side effect of meds?

I have Willis-Ekbom/ Restless leg syndrome which all cause twitching, desire to flex or move/feeling of discomfort/pinching/ tightness etc and making you want to move. When I am particularly tired I almost feel like I am on the edge of convulsions.

Check meds for side effects, and you might want to have a neurologist check your symptoms out, Lots of things could be a cause. could be some form of seizures or Willis Ekbom, or "something else". See if you can get some answers and if there are things that could be done to help.

I doubt it's meds. I've had them since early childhood and haven't been on meds since then. They also happen at night, after my meds have mostly run out. I'll ask my psych next time I see him to see what he thinks. It's never been a bother. I was just more curious as to if that's an AuDHD thing or something else. Thank you, though

Does it happen when your eyes are open or when they are closed?

I have had this most of my life. Will be lying totally fine, and for no reason will just violently stiffen up. I can feel it building up in a similar manner as you've described. Only at night in bed when trying to go to sleep. Doesn't happen all the time, but happens enough that it's a thing that happens. Not always the same parts of the body, some times more arms than legs, sometimes more legs than arms, sometimes everything.

I'm diagnosed with tourette, for what that's worth. I have some control over my tics, but sometimes, doing them just helps. That jolty stiffening up is very familiar to me. I always just sort of thought of it as my nervous system randomly misfiring as it tries to wind down for the night. I don't typically sit very still for very long during the day.

^ Yes!! This seems like what I'm experiencing too. Nice to know there's someone else out there that has it too.
