Does your family have the right to make you stay at the group home?

Are you a conservatee or ward of another person?

Your rights may vary if you're under a conservatorship or have a legal guardian.

If someone is your legal guardian they might have the right to make those decisions for you, even if you don't agree with their decision.

If you're your own legal guardian you should be free to leave.

Have you ever arranged for someone else to have a power of attorney over your financial affairs?

That could be important in determining whether you will be able to leave your group home.

It may sometimes depend on if you have any viable living alternatives. I know cases of disabled people living in a group home because their family didn't want the person living with them for various reasons & the disabled could not afford their own place like an apartment because their SSI, disability money, or minimum-wage job didn't pay enough & their disabilities qualified them for the group home.
