How to download from YouTube?

I used to use youtubex.com to download from YouTube but with the clip I wanted to download today I got an error message. I don't understand because I am very sure of the URL of the video.

The video I need to download is this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8E7Gj-xrUa0

I am a big fan of this band but this particular live performance is not available commercially on any DVD or CD. I would not download tracks from the regular albums (I have their albums anyway, bought legally) but this live performance is not available in any store so I don't consider it wrong to download this one track for my collection. Can anyone help out?

I was looking forward to seeing these guys live in Vancouver BC at Summersault 2000 back in 2000. However they did not show up. I have to admit i was a little choked. :evil:

I agree this is a good song.

Just thought id share that.

Some streaming sites like myspace are notoriously difficult to 'pirate' from because every so often they close the loopholes, so you constantly have to keep up to date with the latest methods and plugins. Dont know if this applies to youtube as well? :?

done. I have it in .AVI file. There are distortions all over the screen but the total picture is still rather good. So this is already a good solution, thanks! I wonder why youtubex.com did not work though. The nice thing about vixy.net is though that you can also change the file into .MP3 format to make it work on your iPod.

And yes the song is great. The band is great. A Perfect Circle rock (see my avatar as well 8) ) and I keep my fingers crossed that they will re-unite soon. If only Maynard drop that Puscifer thing and take a break from Tool after almost 2 years of touring... bring back the mighty APC!

Most APC songs have the same ethereal feeling as this particular song. Those who are unfamiliar with APC but liked this song, should check out "The hollow", "Orestes", "Brena", "Renholder", "Three Libras", "Passive", ... but Magdalena is definitely one of their better songs yes, and Maynard is so charismatic on stage in this video!

Anyone know how to convert the flv files to AVI/MPEG/WMV? I use a program called FLV Converter but it doesn't always work.

Hmmm... I think you are best to convert FLV to AVI. That is very easy with vixy.net (I tried today). To convert from FLV to WMV you'd need another program. I will ask my technical-minded friends if they know of any such program.
