A Warm Place off of The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails is the only song I can remember that actually brought tears to my eyes and I was rather unhappy at the time. Other songs that have 'moved' me at some point are Hurt by Nine Inch Nails, Polaroids of Polar Bears by Alexisonfire, Time Machine by Kevin Hearn & Thin Buckle, and High and Dry and Subterranean Homesick Alien by Radiohead.

The first time that I heard this song, I cried for about 30 minutes.

My husband and I often feel completely isolated from the world (I'm officially aspie and he's completely in denial and our child is autistic). We literally have to do everything on our own and by ourselves because no one can understand the three of us.

We've abandoned and been abandoned by family that we couldn't relate to and who wouldn't try to understand us.

He's the only person who has ever "gotten" me---who still thinks that I'm perfect after all of these years.

Snow Patrol: Chasing Cars Lyrics
We'll do it all
Everything
On our own

We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes
They're all I can see

I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things
Will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Stuff like Evanescence's "Hello" or NIN's "Hurt." It's just so depressing.

"hello" makes you wanna cut your wrists, so I don't like to hear it though is a very beautiful song...

Since I've never said anything real particular about rock:

Pink Floyd - Breath, Breath Reprise, Wish You Were Here

Alice In Chains - Down In A Hole, Rooster

Hoobastank - If I Were You

Faith No More - The Real Thing, Chinese Arithmetic

Pantera - Hollow, Cemetery Gates

Tool - Pushit, Third Eye (I think he has a live version of Pushit on the box set my friend had where before the song or something he starts singing in a real monastic sort of style - mad chills on that whenever I do hear it).

Nine Inch Nails - Something That I'll Never Have (ie. emotional peace)

SKinny Puppy - Love In Vein, Killing Game

Metallica - Sanitarium (heh, hearing this back in 5th grade was the first time I really got the 'darklight' chills off of music - been hooked ever since)

Anthrax - In My World

Jane's Addiction - Ocean Size, Summertime Rolls, 3 Days, Then She Did, Classic Girl

Everlast - What It's Like

Sublime - a little bit of everything from 40 oz. to Freedom and Robbin Hood, Brad mixed up those emotional licks pretty well into a lot of the tracks

I'm sure I could think of more if I really try...

Gary Jules - Mad World

I recently heard this (LINK) song on the radio and found it really moving. Too bad they haven't played it again. It's called "The Funeral" by "Band of Horses". Debating whether I should buy the album just for that one song.

Also lots of stuff by "Godspeed You! Black Emperor" strikes me as extremely sad and lonely.

One song that practically makes me choke up with great tears every time is the song... "Forward you Witnesses."

The reason it causes me to feel so much grief is because its such a powerful song with such incredible lyrics... but most importantly of all, because it was composed by one of Jehovah's Witnesses while he was in a Nazi concentration camp, as a sort of spiritual protest against the Nazi Regime. I might make a video of me singing it, if you could stand it, that is. The lyrics go like this:

Firm and determined in this time of the end,
Prepared are God's servants the good news to defend.
Though Satan against them has vaunted,
In God's strength they keep on undaunted.

Chorus:
Then, forward, you Witnesses, ever strong of heart!
Rejoice that in God's work you too can have a part!
Go tell far and wide God's new order is near.
That e'er long its rich blessings will be here!

Justice and truth have been pushed aside by man.
The name of Jehovah the wicked seek to ban.
These must be restored to their places
By Christians with bold, beaming faces.

Chorus:
Then, forward, you Witnesses, ever strong of heart!
Rejoice that in God's work you too can have a part!
Go tell far and wide God's new order is near.
That e'er long its rich blessings will be here!

Soldiers of Jah do not seek a life of ease.
The world and its rulers they do not try to please,
Unspotted at all times remaining,
Integrity always maintaining.

Chorus:
Then, forward, you Witnesses, ever strong of heart!
Rejoice that in God's work you too can have a part!
Go tell far and wide God's new order is near.
That e'er long its rich blessings will be here!

"Where the moss slowly grows" by Tiger Army

It makes me think of a friend's 10-month-old son, Oaks, who drowned. That was the hardest funeral that I have ever attended. There wasn't a dry eye in the place.
