I don't know exactly where you live or what the real estate market is like there, but I live in a 1700 SQ FT house that is 80 years old and is valued around $130,000 but then real estate is pretty cheap where I live. Still, I am very happy with it and would probably move to something smaller if I were to become single or widowed. Yes, it requires more repairs here and there than a new house would, but they are manageable.

But then I am not trying to put on a show with my house. I am looking for a functionality. Same with my car. I drive a 2019 Chevy Spark (which I love). Hardly a luxury or show off vehicle, but it was $10,500 new when most good used cars at that time were going for $8000 or so. Over those 5 years I have done nothing to it except change the oil and replace the battery since it still has less than 21,000 miles on it. But then I don't like spending money. Sometimes you have to go for the practical rather than the show, at least if you are like me.

That's fine but you're going about it in a not so great way.

Speaking of jobs, it's highly unlikely you're going to get a job with that high of pay right off the bat. Or even finding one these days with that rate and landing an interview.

I already steal time from my current employer.

What is your current job?

Retail stocker

WP ate my response. Are you in college for something specific or got a degree? Planning to get a certificate or go to a trade school?

Want to get my CDL

Truck driver? I've dabbled in the industry and it's pretty awful.

CDL would be a good goal. Being an over the road truck driver would probably be a great job for an Aspie. Lots of alone time, you can kind of set your own schedule, listen to special interest things on the radio or internet all of the time. I think that pays pretty well also.

It depends on who you're working for. A lot of the time you're going to get paid poorly per mile. Especially when you're green.

Yeah it's the kind of job a lot of people would dream of doing whether they are aspie or not

I only told my bf last week and I've been with him for 4 years. I wouldn't have said I lied to him for all those years I just didn't tell him and I only told him because my daughter wanted me to let him know about her diagnosis so I just did it in solidarity for her

Everyone has secrets it doesn't mean you're lying because you're keeping a secret from a person

Sometimes it's self preservation

I think there’s a difference between that and what OP wants to do. You aren’t wanting to kill yourself because you fail to get acceptance from others.

Anyway I’m going to dip out because it’s like talking to any other autistic guy ruminating over lack of a GF and ignoring helpful advice. They’re gonna clock you on that btw if you haven’t realized that by now OP.

Good luck.

As a woman with ASD, I need to say your wanting to erase your autism, which is impossible, is very hurtful to those of us who are accepting of ours. You might as well tell me I should go and kill myself for being asocial.

Sorry. I forgot I never speak for all autistic people. Just like NTs don't speak for all NT people.

He's not betraying anyone by keeping his diagnosis a secret

He doesn't owe anyone any kind of explanation about himself

But to be honest I can't imagine a situation where a potential partner would question his neurology unless she suspected he was ND and it's then when he would have to decide whether to lie or not

So upto then it's all hypothetical anyway
