Sounds like we might get Prime Minister Carney instead of Governor Poilievre.

I don't know about Canada, but here in the UK, the two political parties seem to try to compete with each other to just do the worst things for socially disadvantaged folk. The supposedly left-wing party in the UK, the Labour Party, are only marginally less terrible than the conservative party.

I would say that's largely true here as well (although it's imperfect because Labour and the NDP have more similar roots, same with the Liberals and the Lib-Dems).

That said, Poilievre is endorsed by Elon Musk and is little more than a career politician with no experience beyond regurgitating slogans invented by far-right thinktanks. I don't think Poilievre can be depended upon to resist the American desire for Anschluss with Canada.

Poilievre's boss doesn't think Canada is a real country, so how can he be trusted to lead a country he doesn't believe in?

It does seem as though it would be better for Canada to get Prime Minister Carney instead of Governor Poilievre, based on what you have said.

I think the idea of Canada becoming a part of the United States is a bit frightening, but most unlikely.

Based on the Americans poor track record at COIN operations I don't suspect that any attempt to annex Canada would succeed, but I'd prefer them to make peace with the reality that annexing Canada isn't an option whatsoever and to drop the rhetoric before it causes more than just a strained relationship.

^ Yeah, it'd be nice to have some sanity in western politics right now. Trump is sounding like his buddy Putin, with his ambitions of carving up other countries for his own purposes. Let us not forget Greenland.

Has the DOWNFALL of America already begun?

I would argue yes, and that the re-election of Donnie Dementia is only helping to seal the deal.

Māori atheism is on the rise, but it's more than just disbelief—it’s tied to colonial resistance. A new study shows how Māori atheists frame rejecting Christianity as a political act. Atheism isn’t just Western—it’s global.

This is a video about a constitutional law theory I just found out about today that explains the crux of the legal issues at play with President Trump and his firing of Executive Agency employees along with his other actions to date. Trump believes in a theory known as the "Unitary Executive Theory". This theory in a crux posits that all Executive Power which includes all federal agencies is "vested" in the President alone. Critics of this theory which I consider myself one argue that this is not in line exactly with Article II of the Constitution and there are checks and balances still in place. Here is a video kind of going over it. I never heard of this before today and learned something new! It's fascinating and strange I've never heard of this before.

Another video from "The Wall Street Journal"

Self appointed "stalwart supporter of the Palestinian cause" Ethan Klein made a video where he spent 90 minutes attacking all prominent Pro Palestine resistance groups and media figures with misinformation and zionist propaganda. This is my attempt to fill in the blanks on what he leaves out, namely, the Gaza genocide, and the bad faith, politically motivated smear campaign that laid the groundwork for his video's creation.

Recently right-wing weirdos like Elon Musk and thought-leaders in the evangelical community have both been attacking empathy, pointing out it's potential risks, and criticizing the way that progressives and leftists have "abused" it. So do they have a point? OF COURSE NOT. But in this one I talk about the attack on empathy and share some thoughts from philosophy that can help us see the political and social importance of being empathetic.

During a recent podcast, Christian professor Mark David Hall argued that certain critics of Christian Nationalism are exaggerating the threat it poses to our country.

He's wrong. While he would suffer no consequences under that regime, the rest of us would. That’s why it’s important to name the problem and highlight the consequences. Especially when evidence of conservative Christian cruelty is all around us.
