I don't get why people feel the need to get drunk on New Year's Eve when they're outside in the cold, where they can easily pass out and freeze to death. I'd rather get sozzled in the comfort of my own quarters.

I don't get why some people act like th have a moral "right" to be happy at all times and any time they are not h it proves that someone violated their "rights"

I don't get why some people act like every thought and emotion that goes through their heads is the latest greatest scientific invention. Too enthusiastic

I don't get why couples who are just going to get a divorce get married in the first place. I don't get how poop in the bed can turn out to be a huge court case.

I don't get why people feel they can control others when they can't even run their own lives.

Sacrifice.

I don't mean the kind where there's a rational benefit, such as in a game of chess where you lose a piece of low value in order to get into a stronger strategic position. I mean the kind where there's no rational benefit, such as burnt offerings and the crucifixion of Jesus. It seems that the more innocent or valuable the victim, the better the result is supposed to be. Not that such things happen much these days, unless you count the common belief that we have to have great inequality between people to stop the whole economy from collapsing, and even with that there's been some kind of attempt to explain it rationally.

I don't get how there are still people in the world who are shocked at seeing content for mature audiences in things that used to be for children like video games and cartoons. They take this moral high ground saying that shows like South Park, Family Guy, and Rick and Morty and games like Doom, God of War, and Mortal Kombat shouldn't exist and that cartoons and video games are supposed to be for children.

I don't get why tv commercials are still dripping with gender stereotypes these days in 2024. Such commercials make me want to gouge my eyes out. I don't really want to gouge my eyes out. I'd miss The Monkees if I did that.

I don't get why people who play video games are seen as losers who need to get a life or touch grass or whatever, but people watching movies or TV or Netflix for hours on end is perfectly acceptable.

Seriously, there's this 13 year old boy who has recently beaten the game Tertris, something no one has actually done before, and this woman reporting it on the news said nasty things about him afterwards. She's really getting a lot of backlash for her comments, though. And yet when escapism involves just sitting and staring at a show or movie that you can't even interact with, that's fine? In fact people were practically encouraged to do so during the Covid lockdowns and even now in the winter when you can't always go touch grass because it's covered in snow and freezing out.

I heard about that. In that same news segment, I think she gave praise to some guy who got good at darts and had a perfect game. What do darts and Tetris have in common? They both require skill to master, but one's a video game and that's somehow less acceptable.

It doesn't make much sense to me either. In absolute terms, video games are no more pointless than national football. Neither of them directly produce anything of any practical use. But so what? Who is to say what wasted time looks like? As long as the individual is happy, I don't see that much else matters.

I don't get why infomercials are made. Every person actually watching the TV channel when they're aired changes the channel, turns the TV off, or quits paying attention to the TV. Making an infomercial for TV is like making a billboard advertisement at the bottom of the ocean or on Mars, nobody will notuce them.

Shockingly, not everyone, only most of everyone turns the channel. As a result, there are people to be reached by infomercials, they're also aired at times when the costs are very low so it's a small investment overall.

I don't get why entire companies don't come into work just because there's snow on the ground. "There's snow on the ground, Man....I'm not going into work, Man...." It was Welfare Wednesday as well. The day that handicapped people are paid. We want to splurge, too.
