Also groups like underworld may appeal to those with AS. They have a quite dark synthy sound and were well known in the 1990's in Great Britain

New Order (and Joy Division plus all side-projects) is my favorite band, while I do also enjoy The Cure, The Smiths, and Talking Heads.

I am also a big fan of Gary Numan, Skinny Puppy (and all related bands), Pet Shop Boys, Severed Heads, and Depeche Mode...just to name a few...

Well, I guess I should've made this a top-ten list. I would have liked to have seen how well Suede, Gary Numan, Underworld, Aphex Twin and Depeche Mode.

I always thought Skinny Puppy were a very Aspie-ish band up until The Greater Wrong of the Right.

Well Greater wrong of the right is the odd album out really. Its more leaning towards OhGr's solo material in sound etc because if i recall a significant band member had died in the years between GWOTR and the last skinny puppy album which is why theres quite a large gap between the releases

Ive always been suprised how popular Skinny Puppy actually are considering their material is quite abrasive at times. Its not very accessable but it is very rewarding music. In comparison to Front Line Assembly who are very much the opposite, almost instant gratification with their music but no way near the longetivity and enjoyment i get from skinny puppy records.

I also liked how their first few albums were very motived by animal rights politics which slowly faded away after VIVIsect

DEPECHE MODE!! !! !! !! !!
Also Talking Heads (voted them), The Cure, New Order (but not Joy Division). Can't stand Radiohead, and never heard The Smiths. Queen is really good too.

Yeah, I know. You're thinking of Dwayne Goettels, and Mark Walk (of Ohgr fame) doesn't hold a candle to him. Also, Ogre doesn't sing the way he used to.

Well I've only really listened to Radiohead and The Cure so I picked Radiohead because I haven't listened to The Cure for ages... and Radiohead doesn't really appeal to me that much, it just happens to be the only band I remember on that list

I see Melodic Death Metal as at least outsider music. It was "founded" by musicians who were frustrated that they couldn't play long guitar solos or use complicated guitar harmonies in Metal anymore after Grunge.
Also, a lot of people, me included, sees Kurt Cobain as an Aspie.

I voted for Talking Heads as they're the only ones on the list I listen to. I have heard The Cure and New Order; I've never even heard of the other bands on the list.

My favourites, btw, are Front Line Assembly, Front 242, VNV Nation, and Assembage 23.

Nothing wrong with any of those (though I'm not too happy with the direction A23 have gone in lately). VNV Nation still plays a fairly major role on my playlist, even if the bands that imitate them don't.

Talking heads becuase I really think Byrne is an aspie. He's not a fashion scenester (like the cure), not contemporary (like Radiohead) and very much lives in his own world. In the 80's MTV big shots treated him like they do Peter Gabriel. They didn't really understand his art, but they pretended to. It was kinda funny.

The only band that appeals to me on that list is Joy Divison, and pre-New Order. They had a punk influence to their music, but a lot of that was dropped with New Order. The other bands I never cared for.

I think The Cure fits into some of the styles of music that I tend to listen to, but I never liked the Cure period. I like many goth bands, and would rather listen to HIM's material any day.

I'm probably more of an outsider. I have a passion for music that is strictly underground. I tend to dig the anger and passion in many industrial, metal and punk bands, but hate the glam rock of the 80s and grunge of the 90s with the exception of Alice in Chains for some reason. I also found myself listening to Soundgarden, but when they were on SST and nothing after. I tend to dig those bands that experiment, and that's how I got into many bands on the Cold Meat Industry label.
