I would do (almost) anything to be normal. Asperger's is ruining my life.

A bit, it has it's advantages. People are usually impressed with how I can repeat things without getting bored, and I'm not as socially awkward as I used to be. Hence, I'm not as ruined in the social department as I was years back.

So, as of now I have a neutral opinion of being an Aspie. I don't like it, but I don't hate it either.

It really really really really really really really really depends who I am around.

I am extremely lucky that my family really does understand me very well and know when its ok to push me to be more social or to try things outside the set of things I like and they know when to back off (usually by noticing level of stimming).

When I go places outside of home I am more bothered by aspie related stuff. At scout camp this summer my ASM helped plan my activities in a way that did not stress me out all day but last year i was miserable from too much socializing and not enough time to be alone between the activities.

Well, the only thing I can say is that, being an aspi granted me things that my peers lack. For instance, I'm the fastest reader in my English class of about 30 students, I can certainly think differently than my peers, and I certainly have talents that make me who I am. But on the flip side, I'm clumsy, I've got poor motor skills (because of that, I can't play sports or write fast enough to keep up with my classes), and I'm socially inept. So, it's okay, but there isn't a good nor a bad side to this.

I certainly do dislike it. One must be delusional to enjoy being reclusive, shy and an eccentric!

I dont know. I try to be positive about it and think that how i have alot of good things because of it like i am smart and my mum trys to remind me when i say i wish i was normal about all the good things about myself that i wouldnt neccesarily have if i was normal.
I get very lonely though and i long to be able to have friends and do things like everyone else and have a social group.

I'm proud to be an Aspie. It's part of who I am and I can't change it even if I wanted to. The only part I hate is people being mean to me because I'm different. Other than that, I like it. It's good to be different. Just read the quote in my signature!

If people can't accept me for who I am, them they need to leave me alone.

I learned to be proud of myself a long time ago. It's not letting some idiot bozos get the better of me that is the challenging part. But it's been rewarding, and I have certainly learned a lot about myself over the years.
