I dunno, E36 M3s are a bargain car, I think.

My first car, the one I learned to drive in, was a Corolla GTS. Yup. Awesome. This was when it was considered just a cheap used car, before drifting caught on in this country. I delivered pizzas in it for years. Had flashbacks when I first saw Initial D.

Plus, you're much much more likely to find one that hasn't been ruined by some amateur's ham-fisted attempts to "tune" it.

Damn!

I gotta get a ride in one of them someday just to see how it handles.

P.S. Thank you AO for starting this thread - I think I'm in love with it!

I once had a BMW E36 318 IS coupé which was a very lightweight version, and to be honest, I found BMW lacked behind other makes like Volvo and Audi. The main good point was the excellent 1900cc engine. The rest of the car... Handling... Driving position... Forget it. I will stick to an Audi (Audi...Excellent cars but a bore to drive) or for all round smiles, it has to be a Volvo every time, as nothing gives one a better driving experience then an older rear wheel drive Volvo. Those cars make one really smile when driving them! And they handle well too, especially the 360's!

I see this thread is about imports but mostly Asian imports. Nothing wrong with them - I've owned a couple of 1990/1991 civic hatchbacks.. super cheap high mileage transportation - ran them into the ground before buying something else.

My friend tunes imports. Mostly VW TDI's. But they have project cars from 3 different German brands right now. One of them is getting some more bolt on upgrades and next level ECU tuning in the next couple weeks and then tested on the dyno to see how much more power it makes. 8)

I'm not a major gearhead and never will be, but it's still super cool to see super cool "TFATF," level projects.
