You think Japanese Rock is extreme for them? Japan has the largest active noise scene in the world.

I used to really like Reggae a lot.. Mighty Crown, Fireball, Papa B, the Yokohama Far East Rulaz, and the Osaka and Nagoya gang too... it was great before, but I guess I changed? LOL.. Anyway nowadays I do not follow the scene anymore, but it is good to know they are still doing well. :)

^^^Whoa, somebody else who listens to m flo and Minmi! I love what DJ Taku does with his beats! I own all three 'm flo loves' albums, Astromantic, Beat Space Nine, and Cosmicolor! My favourite is Beat Space Nine. Let me know what you think of these two tracks:

This one's a collaboration with K-Pop star Choi Wheesung:

This is a cover of a song that was originally written and performed by Ryuichi and Miu Sakamoto:

Actually I do not listen to them now, but I used to listen to them a lot a long time ago.. There were one of the best groups to come out of the underground dance scene of that time. I am one of the original fans of "m-flo" from when they were still underground, released vinyl records, and did not have any CD albums yet. I think the (2000) "Planet Shining", (2000) "Replacement Percussionists" and (2001) "Expo Expo" were their best albums. That was their best period to me, because they were still new, struggling, creative and fresh.. and I just Ioved LISA :D The original line up with LISA was the best, imho, but after she left in 2002, the chemistry changed, like LISA was the counterbalance to VERBAL's "over-verbalizations" LOL!!.. so I lost interest after that :( (actually many original fans did).. Of course VERBAL and TAKU are talented guys, and now part of the dance club music establishment, ironically, but anyway..

(2000) M Flo ー Deep Within Audiomusica No.12 (DJ Sunaga Remix)

(2000) M Flo ー Hands (Readymade JBL Mix)

(2000) M Flo ー How You Like Me Now

(2001) M Flo ー Come Again (my all time favorite m-flo song) 8)

As for Minmi, she is still ok now, but I also definitely liked her original days better, when she was still closely connected to the underground Reggae scene of Osaka.. I was into Reggae at the time too, so she was like a bridge between the underground Reggae scene and the mainstream Pop scene, plus cute & sexy too! LOL.. Her first album was the Best imho, yah mon 8)

(2002) Minmi ー South Orange (my all time favorite minmi song) 8)

Although I'm from Japan I was never into J-pop. I was always listening to UK pop/rock.

But I like Namie Amuro because she's not fake-girly like many other J-pop idols. And sometimes I listen to BEGIN when I'm feeling homesick.

I like any good music from any country. I think good music is good music, regardless of language or genre. :)

Yes I also like the Okinawan stuff too, while drinking the Orion beer. :D

Here is an old 1990's video from Actors School in Naha City, which raised Namie Amuro in her early days.

Yes, I do very much. I disagree on something, though; Kpop is quite different than American pop music.

Yes, maybe it is kind of traditional and not J-Pop, but I love it anyway :D

Here is an outdoor live by Kadekaru Rinsho, his son Rinji, and Oshiro Misako, at the main market in Naha City, near Kokusai-dori

Regarding Pop of Asia... Techno Pop / Hip Hop / R&B / Synth Pop (not including rock) from Asia is actually very old.

"Asian Pop" has been around since the 1970's in Japan, where it all started☆

This was the first record I bought with my own money. This PV was considered shocking (especially the ending) back in 1982.

So that was a shock back then? Nowadays I think it is no big deal, kind of like an "Open Secret" attitude.

Here are a few more rock/pop favorites I like from the 1970's to 1990's.

(1979) P Model / Susumu Hirasawa ー Bijutukande atta hito darou

(1982) Ippudo / Masami Tsuchiya ー Sumire September Love

(1982) Ippudo ー Sessesse 8) (the fretless bass is by the late Mick Karn of the UK band "Japan")

(1986) Kome Kome Club ー Shake Hip

(1990) Kome Kome Club ー Roman hikou :) (nice song, nice view of Okinawa)

Regarding J-Club / J-House music.. it has been around since the 1980's starting in the early House scene in America.. DJ Satoshi Tomiie was a pioneer of Japanese Club music, and worked with the "Godfather of House Music" himself, DJ Frankie Knuckles in New York and Chicago. He is now a successful Top DJ, doing events all over the world. 8)

(1989) Satoshi Tomiie ー Tears

(2012) Satoshi Tomiie ー Straight Up (playing the Roland TB-303 acid bass in Rome, Italy)

The main musician and producer of New York's DEEE-LITE was DJ Towa Tei, after they broke up, he returned home to Japan, and has been DJ-ing at many clubs, and making many dance tracks.

(1990) Towa Tei ー Groove Is In The Heart (starring Bootsy Collins of Parliament Funkadelic, and rapper Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest)

(1990) Towa Tei ー What Is Love?

(2011) Towa Tei ー The Burning Plain :) (featuring Yukihiro Takahashi of YMO)

As for Japanese R&B / HipHop, it is another long story starting in the 1980's, such as TOSHINOBU KUBOTA, and many artists in the 1990's, but anyway..

I like EXILE, but I prefer SHUN, sorry TAKAHIRO, but I think SHUN is a better singer, I like his solo work. 8)

(2001) EXILE ー "Style" and "Fallin" (probably "Style" is my all time favorite EXILE song)

(2002) EXILE ー Fly Away (Remake)

(2011) EXILE ー Choo Choo Train (LIVE remake of the 1991 song by ZOO)

DEEP was previously produced by ATSUSHI (EXILE), but I think they sing better than ATSUSHI or TAKAHIRO. It is good they are now independent. :)

(2010) DEEP ー Echo ~ Yasasii Koe ~

This my favorite of SHUN's solo works, which I listen to in hard times, a moving song.

(2007) Shunsuke Kiyokiba ー Ima

Yes, it's a very nice song. I remember spending all night waiting in line with my friends to buy tickets for their show (in 1991 I think it was) but ended up not going to the show because I had a date with some guy that day lol.

Could you eventually go to their concert? It must have been a great experience. :)

Here is the remake of Sumire September Love, it is ok, but I prefer 80's original.
