TheMachine1, I sit corrected. So it would come back to whoever could form a clan, and hunt and farm sucessfully. And of course fight off the vampire zombies wandering around.

Which, in turn, means that it comes down to who could locate a decent number of survivors with a variety of skills. The clan thing wouldn't be such a difficult thing; people are scared and they'd be more than willing to follow someone willing to lead them. The real trouble, then, is locating someone (or some people) who had the skills necessary to make the food necessary for said clan. Without the food, there'll be dissention in the ranks before you can say "Oh, so THAT's what dissention means!"

Still, though, so long as I could find someone able to do everything TheMachine1 mentioned (or else learn to do it myself), I still don't see myself having much of a problem.

Rather Well, I consider myself an expert at nuclear war and fallout patterns. I have a secondary post far away from any primary targets. I have geiger counters, radiation suits and enough food and water to last for 2 weeks.

It probably still wouldn't be so easy to treat in a post-apocalyptic world though.

I would flourish. I am a mutated freak, and therefore nothing will change for me. A post-apocalyptic world is my ideal habitat.

Hmm now to be serious.

When I think the apocalypse is near, I shall-

Obtain radiation suits and other radiology equipment.
Build an underground shelter in a remote area, covered in many layers of aluminium sheeting, and some lead plating.
Stock food and water, making sure that it is safely shielded from radiation.
Store generators, communications devices, and weapons.
Make sure that my shelter is secret.
Bring books and games to ensure that I am never bored.
Ensure that there is free space in the shelter to build a workshop and laboratory.
Make sure to bring allies.

You know that "Twilight Zone" episode with the man who's happy he's the sole surviver of a nuclear war since he finally has all the time in the world to read....then accidently breaks his eyeglasses?

It'll probably be like that for me.

"Go crazy?"

"Don't mind if I do.."

"WHARGHLULULU WHUR LALULUBRGLUBLU HAHUHAHU WOODWOOD HALULAOGH!! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !!"

Wouldn't be at all interested in a world without science or technology.

No radioactive material will not get in the can. Plus there is alot of information
backing up the safety of food iradiation with gama rays so being exposed to such
rays is unlikely to harm the food.

I think their is some evidence that DMSA can remove heavy radioactive metals
from ones body. I can not make it at home but I'm sure it could be made if I studied it.

You should start now. I do not have to worry about that stuff. It took me two years to have most of those things on the list in place. Some those items on the list is very hard to come by such as lead lining.

I would:

1.Get LOTS of money ($50,000+) somehow.
2.Use that money to build a large underground community with food, water, shelter and power (i can't live without a PC lol)
3.Buy enuff food and water and some extra stuff to last 200-300 aspies about 12-18 months.
4.Invite around 200-300 WP members to join me in teh community.
5.Make sure teh community has no significant flaws.
5 1/2.Get LOTS of AK's,Shotguns,RPG's and vehicles!! !! !
6.Me and my comrades get in teh community once teh ICBM's are fired.
7.After most of teh radiation is gone, conquer teh world!! !! !

I agree. Only those outdoorsy, do it yourself types would survive. Killing small animals with crude tools, skinning them, and cooking them would be a skill few people possess these days.
You'd think that livestock and less fortunate humans would be more abundant to provide for one's daily protein.

I would do relatively well, mainly because I do not believe I would have any issues with cannibalism if food wasn't readily available.

So what if the wood and fish is contaminated? It is most likely wood will be contaminated by fallout from the explosions. By burning wood you will only be putting radiation back into the air. The fish and the water would probably be contaminated unless filtered out and safe to drink.
