Being new to these parts, I have no idea how good/bad your writing is RedRobin. However, everyone who commented here seems very enthusiastic about your book so I'll be sure to check it out once I have the time. It shows great initiative to complete a book, let alone get it published, so well done for that. *Gives RedRobin a pat on the (feathery) back*

My bad. I initially thought RedRobin's username was a reference to the bird, hence the use of the term "feathery" in my previous comment.

Anyway, I read the preview of your story. It's good. There are some minor things I don't like (was it really necessary to make multiple references to the fact that it was the Sabbath day?) but you've captured the setting perfectly. The dialogue and stuff really brings the place to life. It reminds me of the videogame Red Dead Redemption.

Being a writer is fun. That takes a lot of hard work itself. Then you come to realize that promotion is even harder, more costly and very time consuming.

I'm having a bad time this winter. In fact, I'm staring homelessness in the face. The only thing on my mind these days is trying to sell off my possessions at pawn shops and Craigslist just so I will have enough money for the rent. I've been homeless before and I feel like it's knocking on my door.

I'm in the process of trying to get on disability for my gouty legs but the government shutdown might be affecting it. Yeah. I'm not my best these days and I thank everyone for their support.

I'm sorry to hear you are facing possible homelessness. I thought things were looking up for you with the book and I thought you mentioned playing music professionally. Disability would be such a help. Maybe depression could be added. I have heard having a lawyer makes a difference but again $ is the issue.

I'm sorry to hear that too. (damn government...)

I could point your book out to some people that I know, if that would help you out. I'm almost done reading it.

Hey redrobin, I just saw this. I noticed you've been having a hard time lately so I am quadruply happy for you! I'm a fiction writer myself so I know what it takes to accomplish this (never made it this far myself). I bought a digital copy, can't wait to read it. :D

This collection has 3 novellas and 8 short stories. They use the Pacific Northwest as their backdrop and range from general fiction to science fiction crime, and horror.

Hey congratulations! I'm a writer myself. What's your book about? (Without giving out too many details of course.) :)

Hi all.

Most of the stories are general fiction and deal with the adventures characters have in different pockets of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. 'Wetland' interweaves three stories which culminate in a tragic climax. A few of the stories are horror or science fiction but all use the Pacific Northwest as their backdrop.

The three novellas in the book, "Wetland", "Iron Maiden", and "Strung Out", as well as the story "Little Hammer" were derived from screenplays. "Strung Out" is about teens and drugs. "Iron Maiden" is about a woman who returns home from prison and is trying to settle into a normal life only to find bad things murders happening around her which she gets blamed for.

If any of these stories, including "The Road to Hanoi", became movies, that would be a definite highlight of my life.

I just finished reading the first story. I really enjoyed it. The ending totally cracked me up, but it was real too, not just like a joke at the end. You are quite a writer! I like the musical piece you posted in the other thread too.

Are you Vietnamese? You seem like you capture aspects of the culture pretty well without trying so hard it sticks out like sore thumb.
