I've watched the children come and go
A late long march into spring
I sit and watch those children
Jump in the tall grass
Leap the sprinkler
Walk in the ground
Bicycle clothespin spokes
The sound, the smell of swingset hands

I will try to sing a happy song
I'll try and make a happy game to play

Come play with me I whispered to my new found friend
Tell me what it's like to go outside
I've never been
Tell me what it's like to just go outside
I've never been
And I never will

And I'm not supposed to be like this
I'm not supposed to be like this
But it's okay

Hey those kids are looking at me
I told my friend myself
Those kids are looking at me
They're laughing and they're running over here
They're laughing and they're running over here

What do I do?
What can I do?
What should I do?
What do I say?
What can I say?

I said I'm not supposed to be like this
Let's try to find a happy game to play
Let's try to find a happy game to play

I'm not supposed to be like this
But it's okay, okay

One of my favorites. :) Green was my favorite album of REM' s.

I'm very surprised someone hasn't mentioned Dream Theater yet. Even from a musical perspective, they seem autistic. (In a good way. That's a compliment.) In fact, this one specific song of theirs is part a larger 42-minute-long epic composition about neurological conditions such as PTSD, bipolar, schizophrenia, and... autism spectrum disorders. As a writer myself, I related to this song's lyrics almost word for word. Although I do very much like to be held. :D

YES

I came in here to post this, so I'm glad someone beat me to it. "Solitary Shell" is like, The Aspie Song.

This song always reminds me of therapy with my psychologist, lol.

It seems I'm always out of place
Like some alien machine
I never know how I should be
Or what to feel
Or what is real

a song that sucks my mind into a vortex of mesmeric rapture and angst (at the same time) is "G-Spot Tornado" together with it's video clip i will post below.
i have posted it before, and it has never attracted comment, but to me, it is the epitome of a mentally frenzied state that i sometimes experience when i am overloaded with sensory input.

i know that the term "G-Spot" refers to an erotic area in a physical sense, but in this case i interpret it to be an "erotic" spot in my mind that is kind of insanely tickled by the sensorium generated by my mental faculties that is presented to me as a subjective witness, rather than as an author or inspirator of those senses.

things sometimes feel in my mind as if i am riding on a magic carpet trapped in a whirlwind and i must hold on and try to make some crude sense of what is whizzing around me.

Zappa is a genius for writing this song. it takes a relaxed appreciation of extreme urgency to fully appreciate the notes. to view what would otherwise be a melt down from a perspective of safety within an iterated and stewarded discourse of events unfolding musically is quite captivating to my attention.

i think that many may see these notes as superficial and cursory, but i realize that the complexity of the score is a product of genius.

This. Silverchair is fantastic. One of the bands that made me want to pick up the guitar.

The Beach Boys
I Just Wasn't Made For These Times

I keep looking for a place to fit
Where I can speak my mind
I've been trying hard to find the people
That I won't leave behind

They say I got brains
But they ain't doing me no good
I wish they could

Each time things start to happen again
I think I got something good goin' for myself
But what goes wrong

Sometimes I feel very sad
Sometimes I feel very sad
(Can't find nothin' I can put my heart and soul into)
Sometimes I feel very sad
(Can't find nothin' I can put my heart and soul into)

I guess I just wasn't made for these times

Every time I get the inspiration
To go change things around
No one wants to help me look for places
Where new things might be found

Where can I turn when my fair weather friends cop out
What's it all about

Each time things start to happen again
I think I got something good goin' for myself
But what goes wrong

Sometimes I feel very sad
Sometimes I feel very sad
(Can't find nothin' I can put my heart and soul into)
Sometimes I feel very sad
(Can't find nothin' I can put my heart and soul into)

I guess I just wasn't made for these times
I guess I just wasn't made for these times
I guess I just wasn't made for these times
I guess I just wasn't made for these times
