Yes! Nile is great, one of my very favorite bands, Cast Down the Heretic is one of my favorites by them. I'll put forth Cryptopsy (listen to Carrionshine), Hate Eternal, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, and Misery Index.

Here's a couple videos.

This isn't their best but oh well, it's Hate Eternal

Here's Misery Index

cryptopsy's none so evil cd changed my life
cannibal corpse kicks ass
and suffocation's effigy of the forgotten has been ruling my cd player with an iron fist for months

This video is just so metal. Don't watch it if you don't like violence.

The song is "chopped in half" by Obituary

I found the song on youtube almost completely intact. The only good version of it was interpretation parody but it's still an awesome song.

EDIT: The owner of the video doesn't allow video embedding so here's the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs-Q1-ylGgg

You find it hard to tell how amazing the instrumentation is on that song because of the speed and complexity. Here's the drummer performing part of it.

Here's some nice NOLA-style extreme metal. I must caution you though since the music video is very violent and graphic.

Do you mean None So Vile??
If so I would definitely have to agree, this album is amongst the most brutal of all time.
Sure there are hundreds of other brutal death/grind releases that may seem just as "extreme" noise-wise but Flo's technical precision and Lord Worm's un-earthly 'animal-like' vocals really make this one memorable
I've had the chance to see these guys live a couple times and they didnt disappoint. Lord Worm was just what I expected, half-man half-beast. The guy even devoured worms on stage.
It'll be a real shame if he's gone for good now, the vocals are quite a bit different on Once Was Not but its still great, a bit of 'experimenting' really worked well in the end.
As far as death metal goes I've been listening to a fair amount of old-school type stuff.. Possessed,Autopsy, Nunslaughter, earlier works of Incantation and a bunch of others

I love Crowbar but I'm not sure if I'd categorize them as extreme metal. They're too slow. I might be wrong but I thought extreme metal is metal that pushes the boundaries of over the top speed and brutality which made it unlistenable for all but the most extreme metalheads. Goatwhore would be more of an example of NOLA extreme metal.

Ah, right. Wasn't sure what you meant by extreme metal. I figured Crowbar counted because they were so heavy.

The Kovenant are a Metal band yes, but they have changed styles over the years from Black to Avant Garde. Psyclon Nine are no where near Metal (Well except for the slight Metal influence), they're Terror EBM, sort of like the stuff you might find played in Goths clubs these days but alot angrier. Terror EBM came out of EBM, wich stands for "Electronic Body Music", and it started with bands like Front 424. EBM also happens to fall under the Industrial banner, much like Terror EBM.

Sorry dude but looks to me like you're a newbie Rivethead.

You know I was just going to post something regarding Extreme Metal not being about speed, but my connection failed. :(

Anyway you're right.

My list of metal bands...

Danzig, Acid Bath, Zeni Geva, The Kovenant, Sunn O)), Bethlehem, Goatsnake, Isis, Ministry, Paradise Lost, Electric Wizard, Moi dix Mois, Theatre of Tragedy, Black Sabbath, Melvins, diSEMBOWELMENT, Burning Witch, Asylum, Darkseed, Halo, Draconian, Khanate, Dolorian, Strapping Young Lad, Boris, The NESkimos, Cynic, Mael Mórdha, Neurosis, Godflesh, Buckethead, Ephel Duath, Stratovarius, Atheist, Deathstars, Hanzel und Gretyl, Helmet.

Heh and these are only the Metal bands that I like, can you imagine me trying to pick out a Band Shirt?

Btw, I'm not a Metalhead, my primary focus is Goth related music. If anyone has any questions about the bands I'd be happy to answer them. :)
