Australia. My mum and I are Australian citizens. Every country has problems, but it's not as messed up as the US.

On a personal note, I am glad to be born in australia. your right it has its problems though. one big problem is the politiains insistant playing follow the 'leader'. Good thing we are layed back. it keeps us from cathcing up.

Big thing i really like of internet is oppertuntiy to know other countiries people on a unique indiviual level.

This thread has very intersting posts! :P

Almost all of the Al-Qaeda terrorists involved in the plane hijacking attacks on 9/11 were Saudi Arabians. In Saudi Arabia the divide between the rich and the poor is much worse than it ever was in Iraq. Because of the abominable treatment of those who aren't in the Royal Family in Saudi Arabia it makes people extremists. In Saudi Arabia the disadvantaged under the absolute monarchy are understandably bitter about the fact that the country is an ally to USA and makes vast riches without giving any of it to its own people on the bottom of the pile. USA has positioned a base of their military in the country and if I was a Saudi Arabian I think I'd be paranoid about the implications of that. Terrorism can't be eradicated until there is fairness in the world. Unless there is a measure of equality and decency among all then there will always be terrorist causes to fight for.

Well that wood explain why they hate the americans then i gess

Had the Communists succeeded in taking over the Middle East there wouldn't be a problem of there being Islamic extremists because they didn't tolerate religion.

Im not sure about that thogh. I think it wood have created even more extremists. Theres a lot of peeple who woodent be so quick to give up there religion.

Oh and i wish you woodent dump all communists under the soviet flag. Im communist and im not quite sure wether to be insulted by that. The soviet union turned completely fascist the second lenin died an stalin took over. A system by which one persons at the top, even if its communist to start with, cant stay that way indefinately. If the power dosent corrupt that one person, then it will the next one person.

Oh, 1 other thing -

Not true. Mabey capitalism is, but religion isnt. Religion has been around since the day Human beings acheeved awareness. And beleeving in something dosent make you a fanatic.

I've always believed insanity is the highest form of sanity, it's the only way to give nature a taste of its own medicine.

Personifying nature can be seen as a religion in itself, so that makes you a hipocrit.

No... There have been lots of changes for the better throughout history as well.

Wood you prefer if Hitler was still in power?

Wood you prefer if slavery was still legal?

etc.

No, but it makes you prone to manipulation. Religion's frequently used by the ruling elite to influence the population, that's maybe why such an anachronism still exists in 21st century Western society. Personally, I think we'd be better off without it.

Yes, that can be seen throoghout the former Roman Empire throoghout the middle ages. I personally beleeve if you beleeve only wot YOU beleeve, and not evrything to do with a given religion, then it can only be used to influence you to the extent that you wood have done the exact same ennyway.

Allthogh, I have to say, it is possible that he coud in fact be extremely smart, and reelise that convincing evryone that he IS to dum shifts the focus away from him.

My dad says that in the next 20-30 years, there may not be much religious freedom for us anymore in the US. I don't know if it will happen, but my father is a very smart man; hopefully it doesn't happen, and I could enjoy the same religious freedoms that my ancestors here did.

Absolutly. As soon as I get out of college, I want to leave the states b/c I am afraid what might happen if I stay here any longer. I know that if someone looks at my book list (from the library) I am going to get some "meetings" from the men in nice dark suits. And if I see another american flag pin I am going to puke. Or another "american" ribbon.

In anycase, I very much doubt the work I am looking for will exisist in the USA when I am finished with school

You and me both. I also don't want to be here when we make another country angry enough to nuke the hell out of our sorry little country. :(

Heh, I'd be getting visits from the nice men in dark suits too, with all the books on controvericial and often fanatical subjects I've read.
