I can agree but I have many friends online and i'd miss the internet friends I have from other countries and the friends closer by that I can't see often due to different schedules. I often use Messenger without Facebook though which is a good thing you can do. You won't see what people post but can still talk to your friends. :)

I think it's a shame that social media has taken over so much as someone who grew up with very little access to the internet. We don't need it as much as people make it seem like we do these days. Go out in nature! There's so many beautiful things to see out there. Social media can definietely be harmful if you spend too much time on there and if you already have low self esteem and start comparing yourself to others.

Instagram is awesome.

I'm really into photography so it's a great way to share my photos, express myself artistically and see other peoples photos. You can see beautiful images from all over the world.

Also... there are dogs. So many cute dogs, and cats, and rabbits... and most importantly quokkas.

For that purpose it's great, I guess it's no different than opening an online photo album, which is why I have FB essentially

But most Instagram users take 10 selfies a day doing duckfaces and post nude pictures.

Facebook is built with anything but good intentions. These 'networks' are artfully disguised neurological feedback loops designed to be as addictive as cocaine.

Owned by the CIA. LOOK UP IN-Q-TEL.

Using social media gives governments a greater role in your social life than anyone you've ever met.

I have been debating whether or not I should delete my Twitter account. It has been a political cesspool ever since the election. Everywhere you go on that website, it's all Trump, all the time. But at the same time, some of my favorite content creators only communicate through Twitter and most of my friends are on there as well.

I like Reddit because you can customize what you see and what you subscribe to, so you don't have to see politics pollute your feed.

I can stomach Twitter for techie stuff but I don't want it anyway.

For that matter I WORK FOR A SOCIAL MEDIA BOT FARM. You aren't interacting with as many people as you may think on these sites.

I find Instagram a positive experience. I love commenting on people’s photos.

Facebook and forums I’ve had the worst experiences from.

There was a gaming forum I really loved back in the day, but it closed down. Apart from that, Instagram is likely one of the few I’ll keep up with.

On the surface it's just photo sharing but Facebook owns them 100%, they are data mining personal information you do NOT want them to know about you & it's well worth the effort telling them to stop if you're going to remain a user. You're simply using it for photo sharing but the real agenda is a matter of selling your account & all its' data to the highest bidder, over & over, without paying you for anything it generates.

Social media can be harmful or beneficial depending on how it's used. Just like everything, it has pros and cons. If you, for example, use Instagram solely for status like a middle school "popular girl," then it is harmful. If you use it for what it's meant for, however, it can be beneficial.
