They had me doing several things in early elementary school and then again in junior high school that were very different than the other kids, like speech therapy (I couldn't pronounce the "r" sound), talking to this one lady in a small room about feelings and play acting different social situations, sometimes doing a more detailed written report rather than a short oral one and letting me have some time alone after throwing a temper tantrum (all of my siblings have gotten an immediate talking to).

I'm about 99% sure that these changes to the shool environment require an IEP.

I might have had some sort of IEP in elementary school, but I don't think the school that I'm currently at now has them, except for people who have really severe learning disabilities and cannot function at all in a normal classroom. It's also a really small school (at least for where I live), and the average class size is 16 people, the range being 10 to 25 in one class.

I had an IEP in Highschool, when I was wrongly placed in a BD (behavioral disorder) class with a bunch of juvenile delinquents. IEP's, for me, never did sh*t in my benefit. They just allowed me to be treated even more as one of the juvenile deliquents I was forced to spend my days with. I wanted to take biology, chemistry, art, computers, etc... But my teacher refused to let me on the ground that I would either "cause trouble" (whatever trouble I got into was never my fault anyway, as I was merely standing up for myself), or "get a crush on the male teachers" (also bull. I was already interested in someone my own age).

On top of that, I had no input in the decisions being made about me in the IEP meetings. My mother wouldn't even allow me to go to them. She was afraid I would flip out and try to hurt someone. That was complete crap, because I am and was fully capable of controlling my anger.
